Deion Sanders’ arrival in Colorado has changed a lot of things, including popularity on social media, leading to more endorsement deals. Already a big-time partner with Nike, he knows a great deal about endorsements and has provided some enlightenment on college NIL. After becoming the Buffs HC, he partnered with $17.7 billion KFC to star in a commercial to stress the importance of family.

His exposure to big brands paved the way for his athletic sons to venture into similar paths as they became NIL giants in college football. And while many people think that all the earnings these college stars are getting are NIL money, the shocking reality is that it’s not. Only a few college stars are profiting from NIL, and Coach Prime explains the difference between NIL and collectives.

In Deion Sanders’ recent appearance on SWAY’S UNIVERSE on YouTube, he breaks down his views on NIL, saying that it’s not NIL that most college athletes are getting. Per Deion Sanders’ statement, the earnings that most people mistake for NIL are only collectives. He explained, “Collective is when we pass a plate around and we collect money for everybody in the room and you all put in and you distribute that accordingly to their gifts and their talents.”

According to Coach Prime, only a handful of college players are profiting from NIL, as he singled out those players with commercials. Among these players are Iowa guard Caitlin Clark, who was featured in a Nike commercial after beating Pete Maravich’s record as NCAA’s all-time leading scorer in men’s and women’s basketball; the Sanders boys, Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders, in multiple commercials, including Google and KFC; and also Travis Hunter with the NIL commercial for KFC.
