It’s National Signing Day and Colorado just signed Gage Goldberg! The Boerne Champion linebacker is one of the 33 players reaching out to Colorado as part of the program’s 2024 recruiting class. And you could say the relationship between his WWE superstar father Bill Goldberg and Deion Sanders is one of the driving factors that led the 6-foot, 205-pounder to Colorado.
Gage is a great value addition to Coach Prime’s Buffs. In his senior year, he was a force, recording 154 total tackles, eight hurries, four forced fumbles, and one sack. But his commitment may not be beneficial on the field alone, as his fame and popularity could potentially boost Colorado’s star power.
Weeks after giving word that the 17-year-old will play for Coach Prime, Colorado has finally secured the athletic son of WWE legend Bill Goldberg who signed to play linebacker for the Buffs as a preferred walk-on. His signing isn’t a simple one because the new commit made a show by lifting his wrestler father off the ground on his shoulders.

Gage initially had plans to commit to Alabama before Nick Saban’s retirement. But under his father’s guidance, he has finally found a home in Colorado under Deion Sanders’ leadership. This is surely going to be a value addition to Colorado’s star power, given what the name ‘Goldberg’ carries in itself.

One of the things that bring about college football hype is the NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deal that allows these student-athletes to profit from their fame. With Gage Goldberg, it’s no secret that his family legacy and his talent make him a valuable asset, which can potentially attract major attention and opportunities for endorsements. This can greatly impact Colorado’s social status and continue the social hype that they enjoyed last season.
