Following this, in the podcast, Deion Sanders expressed his reaction against this move, “Yeah which was stupid.” He further added, “I am a father, I am a real father…where I come from a historically kids follow their parents..when do parents start following the kids? That don’t work in my book. I am the leader of the family and I have been dictating where the kids go, not them dictating where I go.”

This opens up the discussion to what led Shelomi to go against Deion Sanders’ wish and find a new team for her. After coming over from Jackson State, Shelomi played only 11 minutes in five games this season. She committed to Jackson State when Deion Sanders was at the helm of the program and followed her father as he switched to Colorado University. But what was it in Colorado that turned her off?

Shelomi’s decision after hitting a career-low
As per the records, Shelomi averaged 16 points per game and finished as a redshirt with the Buffs last year. But then back-to-back challenges set in for Deion Sanders’ daughter. During the pre-season practice, she broke her thumb and was sidelined during the first six games. Following this, she recorded a season-low two points on 1-of-4 shooting. Finally, on April 9, she took to Instagram to confirm the news that her time in Colorado coming to an end.
A part of the quote said, “My time at Colorado has been a treat with amazing experiences along the way. With intentional consideration and prayer, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with three years of college eligibility left.” Even though Shelomi did not confirm the exact reason behind her departure, the lack of regular first-team action can be a reason. Her mother Pilar Sanders left a comment supporting her on the post, saying, “YOU GOTTA PUT YOU FIRST BABY!“

Other than this, going by the speculations, another reason can be that Deion Sanders’ daughter wishes to break free of the Colorado legacy that her father and brothers and carrying. Instead, she wants to make a name for herself in a different program.
