Is Coach Prime's leadership enough to steer Colorado through these locker room violence allegations?

And Coach Prime has spoken. The bullying allegations which were first brought forward on August 4th had set the internet on fire. With alleged former players claiming that the locker room at Buffs is like “grand theft auto video game” with guns and fights going on constantly. Other allegations that came to light were that Kaleb Mathis and Colton Allen had also gotten into a fight. This started because Mathis owned Allen $10k and when he was asked to pay up, Mathis hit Allen multiple times. Not only that, a former had apparently claimed that Jordan Seaton was bullied into taking a bloody fistfight with another player.

However, on the August 6th episode of Well Off Media, Deion Sanders comes clean. “All these lies,” Deion said, while enjoying some food at the canteen. Well, it sure is cause a few hours back on August 5th even Jordan Seaton came forward saying that “this is a brotherhood” and there was no bullying. Seaton went on to explain that yes, there are fights in the locker room, but none of it escalates to a point where players start hating each other. Even DNVR reporter Jake Schwanitz had dropped in to defend Deion. Jake mentioned how the media outlets always cover the opinions of people who are not related to the program anymore. No one ever comes and talks to the players or staff who are still connected with CU and Coach Prime.

This year has been a wild ride for Coach Prime and the boys. First Paul Finebaum went on the SEC Network to claim that Buffs are “irrelevant” and “won’t make playoffs” and now this entire drama. However, one thing is sure, Deion is ready for the 2024 season. The last few months have seen a complete overhaul for the team. With a new O-line ready and much better offensive linemen on the team, the mistakes of the past will not be repeated this time around. However, something that demands attention is what Shedeur Sanders is gonna do this year.

Most sacked QB in 2023. That is a tag no player would want, unfortunately for Shedeur, that became his identity after the 2023 season. No one batted an eye that the kid had racked in 31 touchdowns and 3200+ yards with a 69.3% completion rate. Everyone pointed out that he was overrated and not the right choice for the No.1 QB title. This year, things need to change. Deion has already brought in Pat Shurmur to ensure that Shedeur learns how to defend himself in the pocket.

Back on Ross Tucker Podcast, NFL analyst Greg Cosell had good faith in the Shurmur-Shedeur pairing. “But Pat Shurmur will focus on protection and that’s critical because he was under such duress last year,” Cosell had mentioned. This is quite important, as even Jordan Reid from ESPN had pointed out in his scouting report that Shedeur was often too focused on making plays instead of protecting himself while driving the ball downfield. Let’s see if the young QB finally manages to defeat the ghosts of his past.
