The Colorado Buffaloes find themselves on the brink of a transformation, or perhaps a new iteration. And the oar of this change is held by none other than Coach Prime. In a YouTube interview hosted by former NFL wide receiver, Brice Butler, Deion Sanders hinted at his ongoing recruiting strategy, and revealed how he focused on an “outside-in” strategy during the off-season.
According to this approach, Coach Prime will be finding players who align with his perceived set of required characteristics, even more so, for athletes who are ‘disciplined’.

Gradually, Sanders revealed that he goes beyond the conventional approach as far as recruiting is concerned. He claimed, “We are still not done, probably after the spring it’ll be several other players in the portal that fits the description and the smart tough a*s discipline with character. And we would target those guys and probably go after those guys.”

Concluding with a disappointing 4-8 record last season propelled the Buffaloes head coach to alter his outlook towards team building. As far as the “outside in” approach is concerned, Sanders had expressed a slight change to his motto a few days back and revealed, “Scale positions, so we build it from outside in and not the inside out”. Recognizing the importance of robustness prompted Coach Prime to make this tactical adjustment. And so, he has naturally channeled his focus to fortifying key positions and laying the foundation of a more resilient and balanced program.
Working towards attaining a well-rounded squad, Sanders has acquired linemen on both sides, corners, linebackers along additional receivers. Even though, the upcoming talents are to be unveiled after spring, among the latest additions is the lineman, Jordan Seaton. However, Sanders also unveiled his wishlist of players and mentioned tight-end Chamon Metayer, quarterback Walter Taylor III, and Cordale Russell among the receivers.

With this, Coach Prime is all geared up for the spring season. Additionally, offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is retained along with the recently acquired safeties coach, Robert Livingston. As Sanders’ planning sets the stage for a team that will look to excel both in performance and character, the coach will want the new additions to uphold these values along with taking charge of the gridiron.
