Deion Sanders was a one-in-a-million athlete and it’ll be a long time before anyone comes close to replicating his legacy. Even after 45 years of Sanders hanging up his NFL cleats, Prime remains the top-ranked Sanders in the family, in terms of numbers and ruling the fans’ hearts and minds. However, with the future Sanders torchbearers set on their way for the 2025 NFL draft, they are determined to carve out their own legacies.

Shilo Sanders dared to make the leap of getting in comparison with his father, Deion Sanders. However, the response was quite anticipated and quick to humble Shilo Sanders. It all started when Shilo Sanders was getting all the jitters awaiting an update on his pinky finger. In an attempt to distract himself from thinking about how painful the surgery would be, Shilo Sanders started a small talk with his staffer, asking her about the ‘realest’ one she had seen in her life. The staffer didn’t think twice before ranking Shilo “second” as Prime proudly enthroned the first position. Shilo Sanders could not argue even the slightest bit against that, as he accepted his defeat with a small, “All right, fair,” and got back to worrying about his surgery.

Shilo Sanders walked into the hospital with a pin stuck in his pinky finger for the past 10 weeks, rendering him unable to bend his finger. While the Buffs’ safety was getting his pinky fixed, his brother Shedeur was aiming for something sky-high, or rather borderline ‘delusional’.

Shedeur Sanders snapped back to reality

Just days before Shilo walked into the hospital, his brother Shedeur Sanders walked into the Folsom field with a similar mindset. The Buffs QB is expected to be one of the most in-vouge QBs for the 2025 NFL draft, probably the No.1 overall, so it won’t be set in stone for Shedeur Sanders to perform his best in the NFL Combine week. Yet, Shedeur Sanders wants to, mainly because of his wish to eclipse his father’s historical record in the 40-yard dash.

Deion Sanders made a 4.2 in his 40-yard dash in 1998, a record that is trumpeted to date in the books of the NFL. Shedeur Sanders believed he would overshadow it with a bit of hard work throughout the season. A Colorado staffer was gutsy enough to snap him back to reality with his statement, “All I’m going to say is don’t be delusional.” Shedeur Sanders laughed it off. Does that laugh mean that the future NFL Sanders are plotting their best to eclipse their father and build a better legacy than their old man? Or is he simply accepting his defeat?
