Cormani McClain was one of the most heard names in the spring window of the last transfer portal that ultimately secured his next move. On Wednesday, May 15, it was confirmed that the cornerback will be committing himself to Florida Gators.

One person who deserves all the credit is none other than McClain’s mother, Tikisha White. Zach Abolverdi, on his YouTube channel, gave a shoutout to McClain by tracing his rough journey this far. Other than the cornerback, his Lake Gibson LB Coach, Nick Moody, gave a better overview of the mother-son bond.  

McClain’s mother is a pillar of strength

As of now, we are aware how McClain has been vocal about feeling unappreciated under Deion Sanders’ tutelage. Instead of allowing him to sink into depression, the cornerback’s mother ensured that his son was aware of his own talents and never bowed his head under pressure. As coach Moody pointed out, “His mom played a huge role staying in his ear helping him understand his potential and not only that you know understand that he has a purpose”.

Other than guiding McClain towards achieving the greater purpose of life, she has always been there by his side, navigating through the ups and downs hand-in-hand. 

Since McClain plays at the forefront, his efforts often get appreciated. Now it’s time for momma White to grab the spotlight as Coach Moody revealed, “His mom relationship is so special man it give me chill bumps. I always tell her that man he responds to her like no other. She really his backbone and she done a great phenomenal job raising that young man”. However, it was not easy for White as she had to take a stand against Coach Prime. 

McClain’s mother’s tough stand against Coach Prime

Both McClain and Deion Sanders’ programs held high hopes for the cornerback since he joined the Buffaloes last season as the top-ranked recruit. When he decided to move his way out of Boulder it was White who dropped a truth bomb taking up the role of McClain’s spokesperson. Her first tweet justifying McClain’s action came on April 16, where she added a motivational note for her son,  Through a tweet, she confessed, “Gotta be somewhere where your appreciated and not just tolerated!!! God take the lead, we right behind ya”. 

Another tweet followed after three days that hinted at the barren atmosphere without any affection that McClain found himself stuck in, “Cormani has no one working under him or for him, he & I will be contacting the coaches directly!!! Thankful for all opportunities And to @DeionSanders & the buff nation  you guys are still appreciated no matter what! No lost love here! God bless.” Even though she might have taken a stand against Deion Sanders for the sake of his son, somewhere being a father Coach Prime comprehended her negative feelings towards him. 

Instead of retorting her back, Coach Prime came up with a calm and composed reply where he wished nothing but the best for McClain and his mother. Now that the cornerback will be stepping into Florida Gators, he will ensure to make his mother proud as he dropped three-word assurance with a ‘Chucky’ touch.
