Chicago Bears Receive High-Level Success Clarity on Caleb Williams from Coach Lincoln Riley

Hardly anyone else can know the nuanced strengths and weaknesses of the players as their coaches. Even though the Bears and Caleb Williams are locked in for the first draft of 2024, applause from Williams’ former head coach was enough to remove the last semblances of doubts for the Bears. USC head coach Lincoln Riley gave his final verdict on Caleb Williams entering the league on Good Morning Football.
“I think, for me to be able to give them some perspective from some of the other guys that I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to coach that have made that jump, what this process would look like from the end of the season for draft day,” Coach Riley said. “I know he’s very focused on continuing to prove. He understands that he’s still very young as a QB. I keep reminding people that in the last four years, he’s only played two and a half years of football,” Riley further added.

Even though Williams was with Riley for only 2.5 years, it was enough for him to identify the promising potential Williams carries as a QB. Williams’ former coach knew he would succeed even after all the ups and downs he would have.

“And there’s so much more for this guy. There’s going to be a lot new. He’ll have ups and downs like every rookie and anyone that goes into that league, but it’s hard not to imagine this guy really succeeding at a high level,” Riley asserted, having complete faith in Williams’ abilities.
The debut with the Bears would be a pivotal point in his journey as a QB. It would not be possible for William to paint that winning picture of the Bears all by himself. Ryan Poles and Co. know that he would need an equally dynamic QB. Sure enough, they have veteran WRs like Keenan Allen but, to be safe, the Bears are preparing to bring in another WR for Williams.

Simon Charles reports that the Bears are in “massive talks” with the Patriots to secure a trade-up. Well, they already have the finest of the QBs coming to their team. Who else they might want to wager the best of their resources on getting a No. 3 pick when they already have a No.1 pick? The answer is a WR.
The Bears want to draft a WR as their second first-round pick to make the best QB-WR duo in the NFL. The name buzzing the most for this draft pick is Marvin Harrison Jr., followed by Rome Odunze.
