Jim Harbaugh needs a star wide receiver to bring his Michigan magic to the Chargers. With Mike Williams released and Keenan Allen traded, Chargers fans are worried. While Harbaugh’s team may have set their sights on Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., that might no longer be true. The Arizona Cardinals, holding the 4th overall pick, were favorites to land Harrison Jr.

But Harbaugh might have a better plan. New reports suggest the Chargers are now targeting Malik Nabers, the explosive wide receiver from LSU. Nabers and Harrison Jr. are widely considered the top prospects at their position in the 2024 draft, making this an interesting thing to watch on the upcoming draft day.

After his impressive pro-day performance, LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers is in high demand for this year’s NFL Draft. He’s seen as one of the best receivers available and could be selected in the Top 10, possibly even becoming the first wide receiver drafted before Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. The LA Football Network recently reported that the “Chargers officially meet with Malik Nabers ahead of the NFL Draft.”

The Chargers desperately need a star wide receiver after losing Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. While they drafted Quentin Johnston last year, he hasn’t lived up to expectations, and Josh Palmer can’t do much alone. That’s why Malik Nabers could be the ideal and practical solution.

Chargers’ made a smart move amid draft uncertainty

The Los Angeles Chargers met with former LSU star Malik Nabers within less than three weeks of the draft. They’re in a great position to add a top young receiver to Justin Herbert’s fort. For now, it’s very likely the first three draft picks will be quarterbacks – Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye. Even J.J. McCarthy’s name is in the mix. If this happens, the Chargers are guaranteed to land either Nabers or Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fifth pick.

There’s also a chance the Arizona Cardinals, who hold the fourth pick, could trade down with a quarterback-needy team like the Minnesota Vikings. If that happens, Harbaugh would choose between Nabers and Harrison Jr. However, if the Cardinals stay put, they might draft Harrison Jr. themselves, leaving Malik Nabers for the Chargers. Nabers is also an excellent wide receiver – he had an incredible season at LSU with 89 catches, 1,569 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Thus, he would be a major asset to the Chargers offense. Considering this, meeting with Nabers is a smart and practical move for the team. Let us know your thoughts on this in the comments below.
