Imagine being a WR for a team that is in the race to become the strongest this season, and then you go ahead and ruin it all. Well, looks like the dreams Rara Thomas had dreamed of all came to an end. After his arrest for alleged battery and child cruelty, fans had plagued Kirby Smart and Bulldogs for an answer, with many calling for the dismissal of Rara from the team. Looks like Smart finally put his hand down on the matter.

On3 took to X on August 1st to break the news. “Georgia has dismissed Rara Thomas from the football team after battery and child cruelty arrest, @DawgsHQ reports,” On3 mentioned. While you would think that this would bring fans joy, quite the opposite happened. A fan went on to claim that Kirby Smart’s “crime culture ruining these young men”. With multiple other fans coming out to claim that Smart was the one to blame for promoting a culture like this at Georgia. This does kind of come as a shock but if we look back at the history, then things do fall into place. Rara wasn’t the only one from the team that had a run-in with the law. Starters Bo Huighley and Smael Mondon were arrested and charged with reckless driving.

Since 2023, around 29 Bulldogs players were arrested. Aaron Torres from Fox Sports dragged Smart through the mud because of all the mishaps at camp. “Kirby Smart it’s time to actually hold your guys responsible a little bit,” Torres mentioned. The entire situation is extremely sad because Smart is someone who was mentored by Nick Saban himself. That man was the pinnacle and paid a lot of attention to how his players behaved off and on the field. It’s wild to think that a man, who Paul Finebaum crowned as “The next Nick Saban,” would make such a mess at his program. Even the fans agree.

Kirby’s crime culture

One fan had the most straightforward reaction to the entire scene. “UGA is nothing but chaos,” they wrote. Quite expected, as even last year staff member Chanler LeCroy and OL Devin Willock both passed away in a major car accident. Another fan insisted that the University should start taking other steps for the betterment of the program. “Great first step. Now, @UGAAthletics fix the CULTURE of the damn team,” they wrote. Back on July 26th, Big Game Boomer even echoed the same sentiment when they launched an attack against Smart. “Kirby Smart must be held accountable,” they had mentioned on their show.

One fan had quite a different take. “Felt like they didn’t have much of a choice on this one,” they wrote, suggesting that Smart had to decide because of all the pressure, or else this situation would’ve been swept under the rug as well. One more fan was quite vocal, “Kirby next” they suggested on X. Finally, another fan decided to dig out the past. “This must be a nobody, I mean I support this move, but what about getting arrested for DUI? Shouldn’t you be dismissed for a DUI charge…” they added. This is a jab towards Bulldogs player Trevor Entinine, who supposedly got charged with DUI. Since then reports have claimed that the charges were dropped however Georgia never took any steps against him.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Kirby Smart losing control of Georgia Football, or is this just a bump in the road?

Many had thought that 2024 would be an amazing season for the Bulldogs, especially more so because we could see them clash with the Crimson Tide as well. Looks like things are turning out to become a nightmare for Kirby Smart. Let’s hope he figures it out.
