Georgia Bulldogs QB Carson Beck is definitely on fire! As the 2024 season is about to kick in, HC Kirby Smart is eyeing the national championship. And going by Beck’s hype it seems that the QB would be the one to cart the championship home. On August 7, the DawgNation hosted the analyst Connor Riley and Bulldogs insider Mike Griffith to decode the Heisman Trophy contender’s USP. The duo brought forward some essential points that have earned Beck the much-needed distinction moments before the game frenzy kicks off! And guess what Beck did? The Georgia QB is one person who left the GOAT Nick Saban going through FOMO for not landing him.
The only thing that Smart can boast at the moment is his QB Beck. While Georgia was on the verge of losing the player to the NFL, he decided to press the reverse gear and extend his stint in Athens. The HC could then let out a big sigh of relief. Hence the good times had started to roll in the Bulldogs’ hood and the DawgNation explained it like a pro, “The first win of the 2024 season for the Georgia Bulldogs came when Carson Beck announced he’d be returning to Athens.”

And what helps the QB to stand out of the crowd? Beck displays a great mix of arm strength and accuracy from the pocket that is topped up with immaculate decision-making ability. All these are enough to woo the analyst Riley who blindly relies on the QB to carry forward the Georgia legacy, “This season, Georgia is only going to go as far as Carson Beck will carry it.”

He further highlighted, “Heavy is the head that wears the crown but Georgia feels very confident in what Beck will be able to give them this year.” Insider Griffith on the other hand claimed “Carson Beck is the franchise. He makes all the throws, he’s got the mobility, he reads the defenses, he’s Mike Bobo’s brain on the field.” Smart’s star QB started with all 14 games for the Bulldogs in 2023 and bagged 28 touchdowns. After throwing for 3,941 passing yards, he was awarded the First Team All-SEC quarterback at SEC media days. But hardly did Beck expect that later on Nick Saban would become one of his biggest fans.
Here comes Saban’s heartfelt confession about Beck
There came a time when Beck was committed to Alabama Crimson Tide. Back in February 2019, he found his trust in Tuscaloosa and was on a spree to meet with new coaches. However, the Bulldogs could not wait any longer and instead gave him a call. It was tough for Beck to resist as he then flipped his commitment to Georgia. However, this is something that nudges the GOAT Saban to this day.

Last month in July, the ex-Crimson Tide HC paid a visit on the SEC Network and Saban could not help but share about the feelings he has in his heart for Beck. The former coach replied, “I know Carson Beck well. I hate it, but he was committed to us. Somebody else committed to us, and he went to Georgia.” But to Beck, his love for Georgia overpowered his interest to play under Saban because ever since he was in eighth grade it was the QB’s dream to be in the Athens hood.
But Beck still recounts the strong bond he shared with the ex-Alabama HC, “I’d say I have a great relationship with Coach Saban, obviously one of the best if not the best college coaches of all time.” However, there is nothing to worry about as Kirby Smart too has planned out some clear-cut moves to ease QB’s path in the Heisman race.
