Carson Beck is the face of the Georgia Bulldogs right now. The quarterback is climbing the ranks, having been named ESPN’s Top 10 and EA Sports CFB’s second-best quarterback. He’s also in the running for a potential Heisman win and is likely to be a top NFL draft pick next season.

Amidst all this excitement, reality hits Bulldogs fans: Beck is nearing the end of his college football career and will soon enter the pro league. He’ll be passing the torch to his fellow players soon. However, until then, he’s determined to push them toward greatness.

In an interview with On3’s JD Pickell, Beck oozed his maturity. “I think last year coming into the season I was much more internally focused because I was competing for the job. Like I had to look at what I was doing most of the time,” he said. Now, sure, Beck didn’t earn his bragging rights easily. He started as a backup behind Stetson Bennett and only got his starting role last season. Then, the rest is history as he led the team to a 13-1 season.

Now, the quarterback believes it’s time to focus on his teammates as he’s free from his “job pressure” to prove his worth. “But I think my focus has become more outwardly focused on my teammates and how I can be the best player to make the people around me better,” he said, showing authentic leadership.

Now, Beck’s success is intertwined with Georgia’s success. It’s all rooted in strong teamwork, a belief shared by the team’s head coach and Beck himself.

Kirby Smart and Carson Beck bank on team effort

Kirby Smart is surely going to miss his star quarterback when he heads to the pro league. But for now, he has a solid plan in place based on Carson Beck’s impressive season. Beck already boasts an impressive 72% pass completion rate, with 3,941 yards, 26 touchdowns, and only 6 interceptions. Smart is banking on this talent to clinch the Heisman

Speaking to the SEC media last month, the head coach said confidently, “We don’t run or hide from the Heisman talk.” He outlined his plan for Beck and the team: “If we play really good defense and get turnovers, he’s going to have better performances. If offensively we’re able to run it, pass the ball, and play action and be really good on third down again, he gets more opportunities.”

This shows Smart’s focus on both Beck and Georgia’s championship dreams. Even Beck agreed with this sentiment in a recent interview with On3. Discussing his Heisman and championship chances, he credited everything to “teamwork.” “Obviously, as a quarterback, my success is very much dependent on the offensive line,” he said, noting how everyone’s success is interconnected. The running backs must make plays, the receivers must make good catches, and the defense must work together to stop the opponent. This synergy will make Georgia champions and might just make Beck the Heisman winner and a top draft pick next year.
