In a world where impatience is the norm, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck is an absolute Zen master. Now that the quarterback has mastered the waiting game, he has zero regrets about leaving out the golden opportunity to be on the NFL Draft. While Beck is held as a strong competitor in the Heisman race, his ability to sit tight will unlock the success vault. Before heading off to the 2024 season, he sat for an interview with the On3 podcast that would come off as an ideal blueprint for players who lose their minds to secure the end result as soon as possible. However, as Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has whipped up some crystal clear moves for the QB, Beck is not alone in this fight.

That’s what you call willpower and perseverance. Even after having to sit on the bench for back-to-back three years for the Bulldogs, QB Beck is happily committed to Smart’s program. For the 2024 season, the player announced that he would forego the chance to be put up in the 2024 NFL Draft. And what did he choose instead? To stick with Smart’s squad, as he announced his return last year in December. However, it was not a walk in the park, as Beck had to go against the flow. On the podcast, Smart’s QB highlighted what is the common trend among the youth now, “Obviously in a world where everybody is so instant gratification focused…we have our phones that are so fast you can get information in one click everybody wants everything right now.”

But how did Beck mark himself safe from following the “go-getter” attitude? He practiced patience, “So for me honestly just realizing that being patient and staying in the moment and just appreciating the journey rather than being accolade driven…enjoying being where your feet are and staying grounded and enjoying that part of it really made the journey easier for me.” And the end result was obviously worth the wait since HC Smart had Beck’s back.

Smart’s bold plan topped with Beck’s focus

Now that Georgia HC is in a major soup after three players from the Athens hood have been arrested, the latest being WR Rodarious ‘Rara’ Thomas, Smart refuses to fall prey to the rat race. Rather, he has rolled out a red carpet for Beck. Why wouldn’t he? After all, the QB owned a Heisman-caliber season last year. His impressive record went with throwing 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns while at the same time throwing just six interceptions.

And what plan did Smart whip up for Beck? The Bulldogs HC highlighted how he would not let fear to overpower the QB. “Well, now, this year, you got a lot of high expectations again for Carson Beck and for Georgia. So we don’t run or hide from the Heisman talk as something that he embraces. We embrace it.” Hence, he would want the QB to address every detail and not hop on to the game.

And Beck very well knows what’s the assignment! At the SEC Media Days, he confessed how he has marked himself safe from the media hype. “I think dealing with outside noise is just focusing on the team. I think the more that I focus on the team rather than myself — take it off of me — all that pressure disappears.” He said. We’ll see if Beck’s patience will land him in the winner’s circle.
