The brutal blows on Shedeur Sanders are nowhere near stopping. Touted as a top-5 pick in the 2025 NFL draft by his father Deion Sanders, his confidence in his son may be chipping away bit by bit as Carson Beck is becoming a consensus favorite in the mock draft to be the QB1 in the 2025 NFL draft. If that humiliation was not enough, Beck has now swiftly overtaken Shedeur Sanders in another competition. The one that leads to the Heisman Trophy.

In the early odds released by Rivals, Carson Beck is poised as the No. 1 candidate to get his hands on the Heisman with +750 odds. Shedeur Sanders, however, rests on the 5th position with odds of +3000. Travis Hunter, Shedeur’s teammate, who is passionately preparing to be the next Heisman Champion, is nowhere to be seen. Quinn Ewers takes up the second position, while Jaxon Dart and Avery Johnson subsequently follow.

Yahoo Sports’ Nate Tice in the Split Zonе Duo podcast with host Richard Johnson air called out Shedeur Sanders’ approach to playing “a lot safer” which is a major “red flag” in NFL terms. Other analysts like Daniel Kelly, a former NFL scouting head, agree with Tice’s opinion. Since Shedeur is ranked quite low in Kelly’s mock draft as well, Kelly pointed out the problems with Shedeur Sanders from an NFL point of view in his First-Round Mock analysis. “He plays like he is afraid to make a mistake,” was the first problem Kelly had, followed by Shedeur, who “folds like a tent under pressure.” 

Safe to say that Shedeur Sanders’ previous season’s 4-8 score has come to bite him back. 298 of 430 passеs (69.3%) for 3,230 yards, avеraging 7.5 yards pеr attеmpt, 27 touchdowns, 3 intеrcеptions and 52 sacks hanging beside him, Shedeur Sanders is looking down the barrel of many such humiliations. As for Carson Beck, well, the sky is the limit for him this time.

Making Shedeur Sanders’ draft stock a laughing stock, Carson Beck is holding the coveted QB1 spot in several of the mock drafts. Ian Cummings of PFN 365 gives him a rating of 8.50, making him the QB1 in his 2025 NFL mock draft.

Well, Beck’s completion rate of 72.4% and 3941 passing yardage have done their magic. James Morgan from the USA Wires also believes that “Beck has everything a quarterback could possibly want ahead of the 2024 college football season.”

At this point, there is no denying that Beck is the fan or rather the NFL experts’ favorite pick for the QB1 position in the NFL draft. However, Shedeur Sanders still has the 2024 season to turn the tide.
