With Jaxson Dart shining, have Beck and Ewers missed their chance to make a mark?

Tables have turned with a change in the rankings. Before the SEC Media Days, EA Sports CFB 25 cover boys Georgia’s Carson Beck and Texas’ Quinn Ewers were No. 1 and 2 conference QBs, respectively. But they received an unexpected jolt with the updated SEC ranking.

Ole Miss has a reason to celebrate, and it’s mainly because of their QB Jaxson Dart. The 21-year-old’s popularity surged after his major offseason NIL deals with prominent companies like Nicholas Air and Dick’s Sporting Goods. But Dart isn’t enjoying just off-field success because he just rose to the top of the ladder, leaving his competitors behind him.

According to Brad Crawford of CBS Sports, Jaxson Dart bags the honor of being the No.1 SEC QB after SEC Media Days. The Ole Miss QB stood at No. 3 in the post-spring SEC QB ranking. As per cbssportscfb’s IG update on June 20, Dart is followed by Carson Beck at No. 2, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe at No. 3, and Quinn Ewers at No. 4.

It’s a big blow for the 2025 NFL Draft’s potential No. 1 QB Carson Beck and Quinn Ewers to move back to let their predecessor outrank them. But Jaxson Dart exuded confidence this week after his 11-win season under Lane Kiffin, locking 3,364 yards and 23 touchdowns. His performance has not impressed all, as his exclusion from the 2024 Preseason All-SEC Teams stood out like a sore thumb.

However, Dart impressed Crawford, finding his name at the top of his list. This season looks promising as Kiffin added more weapons around him with talents like Juice Wells and Henry Parrish Jr., among others. After all, it’s his final season with the Rebels before he enters the pro league next season.

What’s your perspective on:

With Jaxson Dart shining, have Beck and Ewers missed their chance to make a mark?

Have an interesting take?

It goes without question. As the top SEC QB, Jaxson Dart has a great chance of being picked as one of the top players in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 6’2, 220-pounder exudes athleticism, competitiveness, arm talent, and size. After joining Kiffin’s program in 2022, the former Trojans QB secured 6,338 yards and 43 TDs in two seasons. That’s not all folks! The Rebels signal-caller has also locked in 1,003 rushing yards and nine TDs on 247 carries.

It looks like the Rebels’ valuable gem has a great chance at becoming the No. 1 QB even in the 2025 NFL Draft. But there is strong competition as he’s not the only hyped playmaker in next year’s draft as other talents like Carson Beck, Quinn Ewers, and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders are also expected to be top picks. Will Jaxson Dart make history for Ole Miss when he gets drafted to the pro league? Well, he still has a whole season to prove his credibility.
