Is Baby Gronk's dad pushing him too hard, or is this just tough love in sports?

Baby Gronk hasn’t made the most of his internet fame. The 11-year-old football prodigy, once praised for his talent and dedication, seems to have stumbled in managing his social media presence.

While he has rigorous training and a specialized diet regimen, he should also have a better social media manager. For now, it is managed by his dad, Jake San Miguel, which seems to cause issues.

On July 27, a strange post from Baby Gronk’s X handle showed him posing like a mugshot, with the caption, “BABY GRONK HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR SELLING BRAINROT AND RIZZ!” While intended as a humorous jab at his silly content and charm, the post was widely seen as inappropriate and disrespectful.

This isn’t the first time Baby Gronk’s dad has found himself in trouble. In the past, he’s gained notoriety for making fake college commitments. It all started in May when he posted, “COMMITTED TO THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY.” Fans were initially confused but happy for him until he posted back-to-back commitment pictures for teams like Tennessee, Michigan Wolverines, Colorado, and Texas Longhorns. He even released a “Top 30” list, hinting he might commit to all 30 schools.

He also dragged big coaching names like Deion Sanders and Lane Kiffin into his commitment drama, which annoyed many since he hasn’t played a big high school game yet. The online football community called his antics “NASTY business” and labeled him an attention seeker. Now, with his recent self-jab, the internet is rallying to teach him, or perhaps his dad, some values.

Have an interesting take?

Putting up a mugshot-like photo of his kid has landed dad Jake San Miguel in hot water. One X user jokingly wrote, “Can we arrest his dad too?” Another user firmly stated, “Joke or not, this is such a terrible post to make about your 11-year-old son.”

Jake, who handles his son’s social accounts, has been criticized before for posting all those commitment graphics. The highlight was when he posted a fancy graphic with Deion and Buffs’ two-way star Travis Hunter, suggesting his son could be the next Hunter. Even Lane Kiffin excitedly reshared Baby Gronk’s commitment news to Ole Miss. But the internet and Kiffin got a reality check when Baby Gronk flipped teams a dozen times afterward.

One user summed up the sentiment, writing, “I really hate this dad.” Another bluntly commented, “Weird man, really weird,” noting Jake’s actions. Some even think Jake should be in jail for pulling such antics, with one sarcastic comment saying, “Now you’re with your dad!” Amid all this drama, Baby Gronk’s true talent—scoring 20 touchdowns and over 1000 rushing yards—is overshadowed by his dad’s actions. Now that Baby Gronk has flipped to almost all schools, it looks like his dad is finding more weird content to engage followers.
