In week 10, the world of college football witnessed a moment like never before. The 2022 Heisman Champion, who was just on the cusp of setting history by aspiring to be the Heisman winner for the second time, broke down on the sidelines. Washington brutally battered the Trojans with a massive 10-point gap, however, Caleb Williams sobbing in his mother’s arms after the week 10 loss was more shocking to the audience.

Jayden Daniles picked up the Heisman trophy this season. However, it is Caleb Williams who is projected as the potential No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL draft. After he declared his candidature in the 2024 NFL draft via Instagram on Monday, predictions from all over are pouring in about which team would secure Williams. Safe to say, whichever team would land an invaluable asset. Marc Ross, long-time NFL scouting director, confirms the fact. “I love Jayden Daniels. He’s my No. 2 guy [behind Caleb Williams]. He has so much moxy and poise and playmaking about him that he would be my guy.”

Despite Daniels being the Heisman winner, and having amassed more impressive numbers than Williams, he was given the No. 2 spot on Ross’s list. ESPN’s Pete Thamel has the perfect answer for that. “The debate surrounding Williams in scouting circles isn’t whether he’s the No. 1 pick in the draft, but rather whether he is a once-a-decade type prospect or a generational one.”

Teams like Commanders are reportedly ‘very interested’ in Caleb Williams. As a QB, Williams is projected as the number 1 pick, followed by Drake Maye as the projected number 2 pick. The Heisman Champion Jayden Daniels, on the other end, is predicted to be a second-round pick, per Mel Kiper. Well, looking at Caleb Williams’ scouting report, it is safe to say that the teams looking to strengthen their QB position would keep him the top preference.

Caleb Williams’s scouting report

Williams’ command over his arm, right from encompassing various angles, to giving the perfect spin to it, the QB has mastered the skill. That, combined with his accuracy across the field, makes him a scary passer. While his velocity isn’t quite the same as Josh Allen or Justin Herbert, he knows the ball, whether surrounded or on the move, he delivers a clean move.

His 6’1″ frame might be a challenge for his position, but his vision and patience during playmaking make him a jewel in USC’s offense. The best part about him is his flexibility. The QB is a twitchy mover, having trained his torso well. With the polishing NFL has to offer, Williams is a threat in making for the future.
