Deion Sanders‘ arrival in Boulder last year was a game-changer for the Buffs. He transformed a dismal 1-11 team into a team with promise, finishing 4-8 with a thrilling three-game winning streak against rivals. Along with it, Coach Prime also brought a media frenzy and lucrative NIL deals to Boulder. But that’s not all.

Always focused on bigger goals, Sanders made the Buffs’ return to the Big 12 conference after a largely unsuccessful 12-year stint in the Pac-12. In fact, the Big 12 itself has gotten stronger, poaching a quarter of the Pac-12’s members. Thus, this year, the Buffs will officially face their new conference rivals, and the players seem brimming with motivation instilled by one of their staffers.

A fired-up pre-game speech captured by “Well Off Media” shows the Colorado Buffs getting pumped for the upcoming Big 12 season under Coach Prime’s leadership. An inner circle member first laid out the ultimate goal: “A goal is a dream with a date attached to it,” he declares. “And my dream and my goal for you is 12/7/24. Everybody know what that date is? It’s the Big 12 championship game.” This December 7th date might seem far off with the season starting in September, but the message is clear: aim for the final championship game.

Moreover, Colorado hasn’t held a Big 12 title in over two decades, and it’s high time they prove their worth. “Because that Big 12 championship game, when we win it, gives us an opportunity to compete for it all,” he said. It paves the way for the “playoffs and the national championship, late in January.”

Knowing it wouldn’t be a cakewalk, he also added, “It’s going to require a lot of hard work, a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. But I believe in everybody in this room.” But “You got some of the finest people that care for you,” he said, pointing to the coaching staff. Amidst the pep talk, he also gave the players a tough reality check, saying that apart from the staff, coaches, fellow players, and Buffs fans, there are a lot of “naysayers” out there. Thus, they have to prove those people wrong this time by all means possible.

Deion Sanders and his team are boosting the energy in Boulder this year in every way possible. After losing 40 players, Coach Prime went on the offensive, bringing in the same number through the transfer portal.  He also unveiled his revamped roster in the recent “Black and Gold” spring game, where the offense edged out the defense in a 29-24 nail-biter. It looks like both Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur and Defensive Coordinator Robert Livingston have worked their magic, reigniting the fire in these young athletes.

Now, with the regular season kicking off this September, Sanders isn’t leaving anything to chance. The Buffaloes’ head coach recently organized a weekend retreat filled with fun activities to build team bonds. It looks like this year’s Buffaloes team is a perfect blend of talented players who are also building a strong team spirit to improve on last year’s 4-8 record.
