And folks, the saga which Polkway started by tweeting out that Cormani McClain has been “removed” from the Gators, is finally coming to an end. This entire fiasco reached completely different heights, as multiple reports covering claims of McClain not being “professional” and “immature” came to light.
McClain, who was a 5-star prospect, landed in Buffs first under Deion Sanders but hit the transfer portal soon enough and went on to the Gators. This was quite a surprise to many and some even had thought that his reason for leaving Buffs was the same as the one for which he was allegedly being removed from the Gators.

However, the man himself, Billy Napier, has spoken up about the real behind-the-scenes today on 18th July and what happened at camp. “He’s doing fine. I think a lot of this has been blown out of proportion,” Napier said. This sure does help Gators fans calm down a bit. Losing a key player while the season is right around the corner would’ve been a huge hit for Florida. Back when McClain was playing for the Buffs, he had received some harsh talk from Deion Sanders after their match against Oregon. “Study, prepare, be on time for meetings, show up to the dern meetings. Desire to be the best in this game, at practice, in the film room, and in your own free time,” Coach Prime reportedly told McClain.

During the last few days, one glaring issue regarding McClain was brought to light multiple times. The young QB was often late to meetings, workouts, and other sessions. Even Deion Sanders had called him out on it while he was playing for CU. However, looks like McClain is doing much better in Gators. “You’re in the minority if you show up in June, much less middle of June, because you’re a couple weeks later. It is what it is. He’s had a great week so far this week. He’s gained 10 pounds. He’s learning expectations. He’s learning culture. He’s doing just fine. He’s going to be OK,” Napier mentioned. While everything is sorted for McClain at the Gators, this entire drama did bring Billy Napier himself under a ton of criticism as well.

Out of all the people in the world, imagine getting called out by Coach JB. On The Coach JB and Big Smitty show on July 17th, JB took some shots at Napier. “Napier is known to be a pushover and a non-disciplinarian. I’m blaming Billy Napier, a guy that has no power five experience prior,” he said. The Gators have had players acting out.
Back in November, Eugene Wilson was seen swatting away his coach’s hands during a game against Florida State. So it isn’t a surprise that people like Coach JB get to call out Billy Napier regarding this entire scenario. Although Napier has made no comments regarding any disciplinary issues caused by McClain, for now, fans can expect the young QB to wear the Gators jersey and get on the field.
