The world saw Bill Goldberg, the WWE beast, all mushy, anxious, and almost in tears, all at once, for the first time! It unfolded in May 2024, when Goldberg was on the Boulder campus when Goldberg dropped his kid off there. It was the day Gage Goldberg kick-started his career in football with a ‘very close friend’ of his father, Coach Prime. After spending almost a month there, the son of an iconic WWE wrestler got candid about his view of Deion Sanders.
Speaking to C.T. Fletcher on his The F*ck Y’all Podcast, Gage Goldberg came clean about his opinions on his new head coach. “Coach Prime, he’s just a great coach. Really good friend of his ( Pointing to his dad) and I mean I just wanted to go somewhere that I’m going to absorb everything that I’m taught and like the coaching staff at Colorado all the NFL experience they have, it’s crazy. And I’m gonna be learning so much there. The weight coaches there are awesome. We’re in the weight room every day. I love it,” Gage said, sharing his experience so far in Colorado with Coach Prime and Co.
The 6-foot, 215-pounder LB was initially committed to Alabama as a preferred walk-on. However, he was not getting a scholarship there. While that setback was not enough to push Goldberg out of the team, Nick Saban announcing retirement was. Hence, the son of Bill Goldberg resorted to his father’s long-time friendship, making a quick decision, just in time before the transfer portal closed for the season, to flip to Colorado. Safe to say, Bill Goldberg was the happiest when his son announced the decision.

His father, who was sitting right beside him in the interview, was listening with great interest too, wearing a proud smile on his face about his son doing well in the ‘other’ sport. “175 years of experience,” Bill Goldberg chimed in when his son was speaking about the experience the coaches have in Colorado.

Amid all this, one thing was clear: Bill Goldberg’s unwavering support for Colorado. During his exclusive interview with the PreGame Show on the Boulder campus, Goldberg had proudly iterated his trust in long-time friend Deion Sanders. “I have the faith in my heart and the knowledge in my heart that he’s in the most beautiful place, both mentally and physically for his advancement to being a man.”

The emotions were overtaking him, hitting him like a wave. Despite that, he was rest assured of leaving his son in Colorado with Deion Sanders. Ad Goldberg put it, for him, it was like “handing over my most prized possession, my life to Deion who’s a great friend of mine.”
With the iconic WWE star’s son on the roster, Deion Sanders would look forward to using the aggressive genes of Gage Goldberg on the field to redeem their previous season’s 4-8 humiliation. How do you think Gage would perform? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
