Few coaches know how to groom talented players by playing a catalyst role in creating successful footballing careers. Take Colorado Buffaloes’ Deion Sanders for an example. He knows how to mold promising players into success stories. He is a terrific strategist who works in cohesion with players to transform them into world-beating athletes. There’s some shade being thrown at another head coach who hasn’t been able to capitalize on terrific players.

Recently, a college football analyst came down hard on one of the HCs for being unable to handle their star player. Ryan Fravel, the renowned analyst, and commentator dropped his views on USC Trojans HC Lincoln Riley for his management of capable players. His words were aimed at the pattern of serious talent in his arsenal that he failed to capitalize on. He tore apart Riley in his recent Twitter post.

It’s not every day an HC gets talented prospects in his arsenal and yet fails to manage them appropriately. Ryan Fravel who is a veteran when it comes to analyzing football matches took down USC HC for his lack of player management skills. He took to X  (formerly Twitter) to criticize Trojans coach Lincoln Riley for being unable to handle Caleb Williams. The young rookie is on course to become the only young player to win the Heisman Trophy two years in a row.

However, what has been surprising is the fact that Riley is not competent enough when it comes to fast-tracking players of Williams caliber.  He also highlighted how in the past, Riley couldn’t manage players such as Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, and even Jalen Hurts. All these players have gone on to achieve great things in the NFL. However, they’re not managed well at the college rookie level. Fravel has posed a critical question, one that might open room for further discussion, the credibility of Riley as an HC and whether the players are wasting their time playing under him at the college level. For Caleb Williams, he is gauging significant interest for the 2024 NFL draft.

NFL scouts have a field already and looking to catch up on the sizzling players ahead of the 2024 drafts. There’s one name that keeps on popping up- Caleb Williams. Already touted as the next Mahomes, teams are waiting with bated breaths to bring on the rookie player on their side. The young QB is without a doubt the number 1 player to undergo the drafts.

As one AFC scout, he said “He is one of the best football players, flat out, I’ve ever scouted,” Furthermore, he expressed his desire to bring the talented QB to the NFL competition. “He’s consistently the best player on the field.” The USC Trojans player has already created an image of being the most sought-after player for the 2023/24 drafts. Several teams have even made special plans to rope in the youngster midway through the college games.

The recent criticism from Fravel regarding the mismanagement of players is totally viable. It needs to be seen whether Riley will learn from his past mistakes and create a great future for Williams or if will he go down the same path as many prior to him.
