Deion Sanders is creating a buzz online, but not necessarily for the right reasons. His foray into the world of music with Snoop Dogg has elicited mixed responses.

In this offseason, Sanders unwinded with a musical collaboration. Coach Prime shared footage of him rapping alongside Snoop, probably working on a remix of the 1994 hit Must Be the Money. Many appreciated the coach’s enthusiasm and dance moves, but not everyone. Former Buffaloes player Matt Chesney handed the Buffs head coach a dose of reality. Let’s take a look at what the fuss is all about!

‘Coach Prime needs wins more than music videos’

Chesney couldn’t hide his laughter when he saw Deion’s music clip on a recent The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty episode. He then compared Sanders to former player Kyle Turley in jest. Turley also had musical aspirations, but “he did it after he got done playing football.” He added that “he’s not a division one power five coach” like Deion is.

However, Chesney wasn’t just focused on criticizing the music video. He acknowledged it with a “whatever” attitude, saying, “I don’t care about” the gimmicks. But his main point was clear: “You gotta win” games. The message? All this attention to the video is pointless if the team doesn’t perform well.

Chesney even jokingly painted a worst-case scenario: “If he doesn’t win, this is going to be the biggest embarrassment in history. It just doesn’t get worse.”  He playfully pleaded, “Please God, just start 3-0 and go into the Big 12 like rolling… the first three games are scaring the ever living sh*t out of me.”

However, Chesney wasn’t a complete buzzkill. He clarified his stance: “I’m not saying that you can’t go out and have fun. I’m not saying that you can’t go sing and make music videos.” He just wanted Sanders to bring the same level of energy he showed in the video onto the gridiron.

Deion Sanders seems confident in his team

If one of the busiest head coaches in college football is seen jamming and vibing, does it mean he’s confident in his team’s status? Sanders has undoubtedly put his players through the wringer.  He kicked things off in January with a super tough training program based on what the US Marines do. But things got tricky when the transfer window opened as a bunch of players left the team. But the undeterred Deion recruited a whole new group of 40 players, took them on a team-building trip, and threw them into an even tougher training program inspired by the Navy SEALs.

Looks like he is doing all he can under his power to push the team toward victory. Whether it’s Must Be the Money Pt. 2 or any other new release, it doesn’t matter. The only way Sanders can keep the hype train rolling is with wins on the field. Can the Buffaloes surpass their 4-8 record this time? Let us know your predictions in the comments below.
