Many big names are departing from coach Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffs in his second season. And when everyone thought that the floodgates were closed after the departure of prominent players like Cormani McClain and Dylan Edwards, Shedeur Sanders’ backup Gavin Kuld shocked the college football world with his decision. To top that off, he even took a dig at the Buffs QB after his departure.
Now the question is, why are so many players leaving Colorado? Is it something to do with the team’s dynamics or Coach Prime’s coaching style? After all, when Kuld was in Colorado, he shared a great bond with his HC and his family. So what led to his departure?

As is seen in a throwback YouTube video by Well Off Media, Gavin Kuld who is a snowboarding enthusiast, takes Deion Sanders and Shilo Sanders for an exciting snowboard adventure on the Rocky Mountains. Kuld seems like an easygoing person who bonds immediately with the people he’s hanging out with. Another video by Deion Sanders Jr. recording the life of the Buffs backup QB’s day up in the mountains shows his bond with the Sanders family. The closeness is there, but here is what might have set Kuld looking for a new program.
Every player is on the team to play on the field. While Kuld has that zeal, he was overshadowed by the Buffs starting QB Shedeur Sanders who recorded 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns compared to his two games with three pass attempts and one completion last season. The same goes for RB Dylan Edwards, whom Coach Prime coached since he was seven. While he played all the games, he started only six. Perhaps this minimal starting role is what drove him off to Kansas State despite the connection he has in Colorado.

That being said, just before his departure, Kuld also found himself in the middle of a spat.
Gavin Kuld and Shedeur Sanders’ beef
Gavin Kuld left Colorado on May 2 with gratitude. But before the month even ended, he found himself in a beef with Shedeur Sanders. It is now deleted, but Kuld made a statement on YouTube on MagDog TV on how the Buffs QB spent his NIL money. He said, “Look at Arizona, look at Fififa, he did with all his money… Look at Colorado, this guy has got six cars and an apartment.”

This provoked Shedeur Sanders to defend himself, posting, “I learned sometimes you have to take the high road. @GKuld I’ll spare you only this 1 time.” Kuld responded to the post, saying, “Bro @ShedeurSanders what high road? What are u talking about spare me lol.”
Amidst all this, the Colorado Buffs might feel the heat of Kuld leaving the team. Now, after Kuld’s departure, Colorado only has five players in the QB room.
