If you’re a fan of the Colorado Buffaloes or just of college football in the slightest, the names of Shedeur Sanders or Deion Sanders wouldn’t be lost on you. That is because, since the 2023 season, the star players of Colorado and the team itself have drawn in negative criticism from the fans at every curb they’ve ended up at. Despite their success and fame, the haters still continue to spew fire against their name and now Uncle Neely has explained the ‘why’ of it all.

Shedeur Sanders, the QB for the Colorado Buffaloes, showcased an exceptional performance last season. Even though the team only raked in 4 wins against their 8 losses, Shedeur earned a good reputation for himself and was even ranked in the top 10 Heisman candidates in 2023. And yet, he gets called out for every small thing he does. Ranging from his social media tweets to his luxury possessions, the angry football fans keep knocking on his door. In recent events, Eli and Peyton Manning are currently training QBs in their camp and while none of the Sanders are present, Neely’s show talked about how it would be an issue if they were.

The Manning Passing Academy hosts a camp every year where quarterbacks from all over the country come and improve their skills as a passer as well as their throws. While the camp bore witness to several top players like Quinn Ewers, Jalen Milroe, and Arch Manning, the likes of Shedeur or Shilo Sanders were not in attendance, and probably for the best since they would’ve received a lot of flak for missing their college’s workout sessions.

On the 28th June episode of Thee Pregame show, Unk and Chico came on together once again to discuss the Manning Camp that is making the headlines in college football right now. Chico Cleveland brought up Shedeur and noted how all the QBs who are taking part are definitely missing their workouts. He further added, “I don’t see an uproar anywhere about it. But I would have to say if this was Shedeur Sanders or any Sanders for that matter, missing a workout to attend a camp or passing camp or something like that, it would be an uproar all over social media.” To which Neely responded with an interesting opinion and said, “Because their last name isn’t Sanders. So the scrutiny that comes with being a Sanders, the unfair attention, when it comes to what they’re doing and not doing and what other teammates would be doing, it’s just unfounded man. It’s unrealistic.” There’s no denying the fact that the Sanders brothers have seen their fair share of scrutiny and one example that comes to mind, is when they missed their workouts to model for the Louis Vuitton’s men’s Fall-Winter show.

Back in January 2024, the Sanders brothers had the opportunity of a lifetime when they were asked to model for Louis Vuitton’s Fall-Winter show, presented by none other than Pharrell Williams himself. The two athletes had demonstrated a dire interest in fashion and as such, jumped out of their shoes and immediately headed to Paris to be a part of the event but their happiness came with an outburst from the Colorado haters as well.

All of them accused Deion of playing favorites and letting his sons jet off to Paris and missing workouts so easily, setting a bad example for other players in the program. Later, Deion issued a reply where he was heard saying, “Any young man on our team that has a dream, a goal or aspiration, I allow them to go and fulfill it. Not just my sons.” And yet, the Sanders men can’t seem to get the haters off their tails. If they want to walk against the wave, they’ll have to ensure a bright season for the Buffaloes this year, which finally sets them apart from their 2023 reputation.
