Deion Sanders is known for his fatherly love toward his kids, particularly Shedeur and Shilo, as they play for the Buffs. Being the head coach of the Buffs, he is not immune to allegations of favoritism. Some critics believe his actions, like making Shedeur a quarterback and showing extra concern for him on the field, are quite biased.

However, Buffzone’s Brian Howell recently addressed these concerns during a discussion about the Colorado Buffaloes’ current situation. While discussing the team’s top transfers and upcoming changes, Howell also shed light on the relationship between Coach Prime and his sons. Howell’s comments help clarify the situation, showing that Coach Prime’s actions are rooted in genuine care for the team and not nepotism.

Brian Howell talked about exciting players on the Colorado team and mentioned a few names. When he got to Shedeur Sanders, things got interesting. He said, “If you’re Shedeur Sanders, obviously his dad was looking to build up things around him… and I talked about this once that people look at him and say, ‘Oh he’s just helping out his son well.’ Yes, because his son is the quarterback, and that’s what coaches do, they help their quarterback.” Howell added, “Forget the father-son thing; if you have a generational quarterback, you want to help him out. That’s what they have done right!”

It seems like Deion was doing his coach duty right, taking care of his most important player, not only because it’s his son. The head coach also knows what he’s doing. His actions with the Colorado Buffaloes speak for themselves, so there’s no reason to doubt his honesty.

Coach Prime’s second year promises big things. The arrival of a new wave of talent and a clear team identity will definitely silence the doubters. Coach Sanders is fully invested in shaping this team, with quarterback Shedeur Sanders as the cornerstone. Spring practice kicks off on March 18, showcasing a vastly improved squad compared to last year. While the Sanders brothers and Travis Hunter’s core group remain strong, adding 5-star lineman Jordan Seaton is a major boost. Keeping Shedeur Sanders protected is crucial, especially as he preps for the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite facing intense pressure last season, he smashed passing and rushing records. The defense has also received a shot in the arm with key recruits, further solidifying the team’s overall strength.
