Will he, or won’t he?

Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis’ recent trip to Auburn has sparked fresh media scrutiny. Is this a sign he’s considering a switch from Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes or Lincoln Riley’s USC?

It seems that the Auburn Tigers, with Coach Hugh Freeze at the helm, are strongly vying for Lewis. Even On3’s recruiting expert, Steve Wiltfong, reported “strong” early impressions from the visit. However, Wiltfong also believes the ball might still be in the CU Buffs’ court.

In an “On3 Recruits” video, Wiltfong outlines why Colorado remains a viable option for Lewis. He mentioned the “eyeball” on the program, all because of Deion Sanders, and the “opportunity to grow your brand there” and the potential to “step in and start right away” with Shedeur Sanders likely leaving.

Wiltfong also emphasizes the upgraded Buffs offense, which has been revamped by offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Impressive training sessions and conversations with Coach Shurmur seem to sway Lewis. Additionally, Deion’s past recruiting successes are not to be missed as he added, “We know what they’re capable of on the trail.” According to Wiltfong, Travis Hunter at Jackson State, Jordan Seaton, and even Cormani McClain are prime examples.

Now, Wiltfong throws in some intrigue: “Who’s going to be that big recruiting win for them this cycle?” He does not name Lewis but hints that Colorado stands to win. Lewis is “excited about Colorado for all the reasons” listed. However, he also cautions that Lewis might wait and see how teams perform in the fall.

Ultimately, if “Colorado comes out smoking hot,” it could potentially sway Lewis from his USC commitment. It appears that the same idea has been going around for several months.

Can Deion Sanders lure Julian Lewis to Boulder?

Initially committed to USC, Julian “JuJu” Lewis has been exploring other options. This includes the recent Auburn Tigers and even a surprising visit to Indianapolis. But the big news is his three visits to see Coach Deion Sanders at Colorado. Lewis has even spoken positively about the warm and welcoming atmosphere at Colorado adding to the hype.

However, Colorado faces challenges in securing Lewis’ commitment. And most recruiting experts believe that Colorado’s success on the field will be a major factor. Even a couple of months back, David Talks Buffs said the same. “If Colorado can reach 7, 8, 9, 10 wins, man you’re going to see an influx of more of Blue Chip guys committing to Colorado,” he noted. Currently, predictions for Deion’s team hover around a 5.5 to 6.3 win rate and the team will need more to lure Lewis.

Already Colorado has some advantages: a powerful presence in the NIL world and a soon-to-be-vacant starting quarterback position. However, a winning record would just add to the charm.
