It seems like second time’s the charm! Former USC running back Reggie Bush has been finally granted permission to reclaim his 2005 Heisman Trophy, according to an announcement made by the Heisman Trust on Wednesday. This decision marks a significant moment in college football history and demonstrates what the Trust describes as “enormous changes in the college football landscape.”
Bush voluntarily forfeited his Heisman Trophy in 2010 following NCAA sanctions against USC. These sanctions included allegations of improper benefits received by Bush during his tenure with the Trojans from 2003 to 2005. Now, over a decade later, the Heisman Trust has reinstated Bush’s trophy and acknowledged the evolving dynamics within collegiate athletics. This news has sparked widespread support from the football community, with USC’s no.1 quarterback prospect Caleb Williams expressing his excitement on social media.
Sharing ESPN’s Pete Thamel’s post on Twitter, Williams, as a fellow Heisman Trophy winner(2022) proudly captioned it: “Yes sirskii. It’s timeee.” However, Williams’ fanboying of Bush did not stop there. He further showcased his enthusiasm by sharing the news on his IG Story and expressing his admiration for Bush.
