Ohio State’s football program is known for making strategic moves, and as spring practice unfolds, the Buckeyes are taking significant steps to strengthen their coaching staff. To address concerns about their offensive line, Head Coach Ryan Day has made a savvy move by adding Tim Drevno as a quality control coach, as reported by 247Sports on Wednesday. Drevno’s arrival is a calculated move for Ohio State, especially given his extensive history working alongside Jim Harbaugh.

Drevno and Harbaugh have a long-standing connection dating back to their time together at the University of San Diego, where they secured back-to-back NCAA Division I-AA Mid Major national championships in 2005 and 2006. Their partnership continued at Stanford, where Harbaugh hired Drevno as a tight ends coach before promoting him to the position of offensive line coach.
The Harbaugh-Drevno partnership persisted at the University of Michigan in 2015, where Drevno served as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for two seasons. Clearly, Coach Day is leveraging the former Michigan man’s connection by bringing Drevno on board.
In addition to working under Harbaugh, Drevno also has extensive coaching experience in other programs.
