Shilo Sanders hasn’t had it easy for the past couple of months since the controversy of his past came to light. Since then, he’s claimed for bankruptcy and it can’t be easy for the youngster who has to prep hard for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, the rug seems to be pulling away from his football career as well and a new player is set to fill his shoes in the team.

Shilo Sanders, the safety of the Colorado Buffaloes, had a good season last year. He played in 11 games and started all of them except for missing one due to an injury. Despite the team’s little success, Shilo became the 9th DB in CU history to lead the team in tackles (70). While he is preparing hard to up his game this season, it looks like his time in the sun is already over as Uncle Neely’s predicting Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig to be as good as Shilo, if not better.

On the 30th June episode of ‘Thee Pregame Show’, Uncle Neely joined Tolly Carr to talk about how the first cycle of strength and conditioning for Colorado was and keeping that in perspective, name-dropped Cam’Ron when asked about the leadership roles that Shilo was going to play. While trying not to take anything away from Shilo’s capabilities, he defined Craig as an equally good player and a leader.

Neely went on to discuss Shilo’s advantages and how he’s having training sessions with Coach Livingston but also had Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig on the tip of his tongue to make the fans aware of his talents. He said, “Still the leader. He is still doing his thing out there. He knows this defense, he works well with Coach Livingston but there’s another guy who transferred from Jackson State to Colorado who is just as much a leader as Shiloh Sanders is and that’s Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig. Look for him to make a lot of noise at safety, look for different packages where he and Shiloh would be on the the field.” Thus, the CU’s defense looks dead set to be explosive this year but does this mean bad news for Shilo? We’ll have to wait and find out what this season looks like for him to draw a better conclusion but till then, here’s a look at who and what Cam’Ron-Silmon-Craig’s stats are.

Before coming to Colorado and donning the black and golden jersey, Craig was with Jackson State for the 2021-22 season. Over there, he played 25 games and recorded over 111 total tackles, 5 interceptions, and 11 pass breakups. That sounds pretty impressive for a safety to record in his debut season. It also makes sense as to why Deion would bring him on since he’s such a dominating presence on the field.

Looking at his stats with Colorado last year, Craig played in 12 games and started in 10 of them. He also played in 673 defensive snaps and recorded 32 unassisted tackles and a total number of 44 tackles. Moreover, Craig recorded a season-high number of 9 tackles against the in-state rivals Colorado State. Thus, if both he and Shilo are at the forefront of Colorado’s defense, then the QBs and the WRs seem to be in promising hands, the same ones who would knock opposite-team players right out of their helmets in order to defend.
