It seems that Jim Harbaugh is on his way to paint a massive picture in the WR locker room. The first stroke was drafting Brenden Rice, a completely unexpected move by the Chargers, who maintained their enigma until the draft day. After Keenen Allen’s trade to the Bears and Mike Williams getting cut off, Brenden Rice was the perfect addition to the Chargers’ WR-weak roster. However, Harbaugh doesn’t seem just about done with bolstering up his WR department.
Per the latest report by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, free agent-receiver Tyler Boyd has hit the road and reached LA to meet up with Jim Harbaugh and Co. this week. Boyd is also expected to head to Tennessee later this week to meet the Titans. During his extensive 8-year stint with the Bengals, the WR scrimmaged for 6000 receiving yards and 513 receptions during the 120 games he played with the team.

With an experienced WR like Boyd moving in to guide the NFL journey of Hall of Fame heir Brenden Rice in his rookie year, the Chargers’ WR line might turn out to be way more explosive than their competitors anticipated. All of this, thanks to the budgeting mastermind of Joe Hortiz.

Just a couple of months ago the Chargers were down pretty bad, with about $54 million over their set salary cap. Now they have a little over $30 million left to lavish, as the Bolt Bros Chargers podcast reported.

“We have a little over $30 million currently. So we have around $15 million we could potentially spend. Well, here’s the news just today was just announced that Tyler Boyd is in LA currently. Right now he’s meeting with the Chargers and then going to the Titans potentially,” the host reported. Will Tyler Boyd’s potential addition aid not only Brenden Rice’s but also the Chargers’ success?

Will Brenden Rice make history for the Chargers?

Now that the narrative is working in their favor, will the Chargers grab the chance to bolster up their WR room to not only give Rice the ultimate boost he needed but also aid the team in achieving the Super Bowl dream that Jim Harbaugh has set for the team? Only time will tell.

For now, the master move of drafting Jerry Rice has been praised by several NFL aficionados. Robert Griffin III is the most thrilled among them. “GM Joe Hortiz and Chargers just got the Isiah Pacheco of WRs in the 7th round. Plays with uncontrolled-controlled VIOLENCE and Justin Herbert will love how he fights to win before and after the catch,” Griffin II tweeted.

So will the Herbert-Rice duo lead the Chargers to its Super Bowl dream this season single-handedly or will they need another experienced WR like Boyd to be with them just in case?
