Jim Harbaugh’s antics (tactics rather) have taken all the attention of college football fans. The Big Ten coaches gathered around the table, in the absence of Harbaugh, to decide his fate with the NCAA. According to ESPN sources, the coaches engaged in a 90-minute call with Commissioner Tony Petetti on Wednesday, reportedly even urging him to take action against the not-acceptable ways of the Michigans.
The tale started when the team’s head coach leaking signs of other teams to Michigan came to public notice. The NCAA confirmed the whole ‘sign stealing’ fiasco on October 19 after a two-week investigation. As much of a sagacious action it is, the action is rare in the NFL. Hence, the frustration surrounding it. Now, the Big Ten does hold the right to punish Michigan or members of the coaching staff under its Sportsmanship policy. But will they really? Let’s look at what may happen if they might.

Harbaugh sets his eyes on another head coach position
Even though the Wolverines’ head coach’s confidential stuff is out there, things can still work out for Harbaugh. Firstly, because of the wide spectrum of experience he holds across the teams since 1994. The same experience that enabled him to pull off such an unheard tactic in the NCAA. Moreover, teams like the Las Vegas Raiders have expressed their genuine interest in hiring the Michigan coach. Recently, the team owner Mark Davis relieved head coach Josh McDaniels, opening up a very warm and favorable position for Harbaugh.

Moreover, the Wolverines coach seems a tad too interested in becoming the Chicago Bears‘ head coach. Interestingly, there have been rumors about Eberflus’ position with the Bears, so that becomes another good news for Michigan’s head coach. In an interesting turn of situations, the Minnesota Vikings interviewed Harbaugh last year for the position of head coach, one in which he emerged as a lead candidate. However, he never received an offer from the franchise. This makes one thing clear: despite his newly renewed contract being in danger, the coach is highly valued in the league.

Jim Harbaugh with the Michigan University
As per the recent records, the coach remains one of the highest-paid coaches in the conference, with his newly negotiated contract standing at an estimated $36.7 million. Additionally, Harbaugh has been the backbone of Michigan since 2015, which makes it almost 8 years of togetherness.

Jim Harbaugh has led this team to multiple top positions during his tenure. On the other hand, if the head coach has to bid his team adieu owing to the rough situations, he would still get the position as one of the highest-paid coaches in the league, if he decides to shift to the NFL that is. The decision stays upon the conference to keep the sign-stealer, who is also one of the best coaches, or to let him go.
