The former Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver, Xavier Weaver has been the center of attention as he showcased his skills at his Pro Day at the Indoor Practice Facility on Wednesday. However, for Weaver, his coach, Deion Sanders deserves all the credit. While facing the media, he went all praise about the Coach Prime.
As pointed out by the wide receiver, it is because of Sanders that his stocks have been boosted which made it easier for him to grab the attention of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders. Currently, scouts from 12 NFL teams have traveled to Boulder to find young talent in which Weaver stands a chance.

The 6-foot-175-pound Weaver on his Pro Day got measured and then pounced into action. He had been able to amass a solid run of 4.47 in the 40-yard dash. With this, he tied for the 21st fastest time out of the 30 receivers who took part in the NFL Combine. Mesmerized by his talents, the Chiefs and Raiders showed their interest in drafting the wide receiver. With this, he shot into the limelight. But all Weaver did was speak highly about Sanders, “Anybody that transfers out here to play for Coach Prime, his name holds weight so it means a lot.”

The Buffaloes did have an impact on Weaver’s journey to the NFL Scouting Combine as he earlier highlighted, “The opportunities that’s been put in front of me, I feel like I’ve taken advantage of them to the fullest. Coming to Colorado put me in that light and taught me a lot. It taught me about perseverance, teamwork, and stuff like that.” Interestingly, the respect goes both ways, as Deion Sanders too shared his favor towards Weaver which had a positive impact on his stocks.

As Weavers is all set to transition into the next chapter in his football journey, Coach Prime’s kind words about him will allow NFL scouts to have a fair understanding of who they are going to recruit. In one of the recent interviews, Sanders claimed how Weaver has created a good impression of himself from before, “These scouts come in every day and he [Xavier] is the first one they ask about. And I say he is consistent.”

The Buffaloes HC further added, “He could play inside and outside at the next level. You may use him inside and he could separate. He’s gonna make the catch, he’s gonna practice like a dog, even when he’s hurt.” As found in Sanders’ analysis, he playfully teases Weaver’s position claiming, “You’re not just getting a receiver, a guy that’s confident and polished, but you’re getting a returner as well.”

However, Xavier Weaver did not only carry his Colorado Buffaloes legacy. He ensured to give his best in the Pro Day and came up with an eye-opening 40 time where excelled in vertical and broad jumps and wrapped up a 3-cone drill in impressive time. With this, he allowed Deion Sanders’ analysis to come out to be true thereby impressing the scouts of his dream NFL teams.
