The people at Tuscaloosa had their hopes high for their new Ryan Grubb when reports claimed that Grubb was ‘under consideration’ for the offensive coordinator role at Seattle Seahawks. He had just shaken hands with Kalen DeBoer in mid-January when Alabama was in dire conditions because of the players entering the transfer portal one after the other. A new face in the program brought a semblance of stability to it.
Hence, the jitters that followed the reports of Grubb leaving for the Seahawks were only natural, especially when he shared chemistry with DeBoer during their tenure at Washington Huskies brought in a faith that was slowly crumbling to shambles. Handling it all like a pro, Ryann Grubb decided to step up to clear out all the mutters with his conclusive words. “I am your new offensive coordinator. I’m here to stay,” asserted Red Elephant Club at the Bryant-Denny Stadium.

While the position of Grubb is finalized, those of the other familiar faces who would soon be joining DeBoer from Washington per ESPN’s Chris Low are yet to be announced. According to the report, wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard and scouting director Jerret McElwain are expected to join soon. Along with them, DeBoer would be retaining incumbent defensive line coach Freddie Roach and running backs coach Robert Gillespie.
As Tommy Rees’s replacement, Grubb has a mammoth responsibility as his preceder led the team to become the 14th-best overall offense in the 2023 season. Not to mention the already high-set expectations after Nick Saban’s legacy. This, along with the hectic nature of recruitment in their eroding roster, are the primary concerns that DeBoer and Co. need to tackle on an immediate basis.

Alabama 2024 roster updates
Nick Saban’s leadership was enough for the high-school star players to commit their future to Alabama Crimson Tide. Hence, the players who committed to the program when Saban was still leading it would naturally have second thoughts. Yet, Domani Jackson, LT Overton, and Nagel Betrand, the transfers who committed to the program before Saban’s retirement, along with Parker Brailsford, Germie Bernard, and Austin Mac, who followed Kalen DeBoer from Washington Huskies, all 6 are up for commitment.
