Caleb Williams can’t get enough of Lionel Messi! Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup victory against France was a phenomenal celebration. But what set the internet on fire was the post that the GOAT himself uploaded on his Instagram account a day after the big win in Qatar.
Messi posted two interesting pictures of himself enjoying his victory. In one, he was seen sleeping while holding his trophy, and in the other, he posted his trophy with the caption “Good Morning” in Spanish. Fast-forward to today and the projected No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft recreated a similar scenario. Could it be a flex to cement the Chicago Bears’ draft decision?

The USC Trojans quarterback won the coveted Heisman Trophy in 2022 by recording 4,537 yards and 42 touchdowns. In his recent IG story, the 22-year-old posted a picture of himself covered in a blanket and sleeping beside the trophy. Although he wasn’t holding the trophy like Messi did, there is a stark similarity between the two elite players.
Caleb Williams is a fan of the legend, and it’s no secret that he’s open about his support and appreciation for Messi. An instance where he portrayed himself as a fan was when the soccer GOAT won the 2023 Ballon d’Or for the eighth time. Following this success, Williams took to his IG story to repost fcbarcelona’s post of Messi holding the trophy. The support between cross-sports stars always receives love and attention. And while Messi is one of the greatest in soccer, Williams is also about to carve a similar path when he officially joins the professional league.

Caleb Williams checked all Bears boxes with Jamie Foxx in attendance
According to a recent report by Peter Schrager, the Bears were out and about with Caleb Williams before his pro-day workout. They had dinner together in Bird Streets, Los Angeles, where Jamie Foxx and Quavo were also in attendance. According to Schrager, “The one thing that the Bears have told me in that interaction was ‘He moves quietly.’ He’s not a ‘Look at me!’ guy. If anything, he’s kinda quiet and a little bit more reserved than you would imagine from a Heisman Trophy, No. 1 overall pick, who made all this NIL money… Caleb Williams has checked every box for the Bears.”

According to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman’s latest mock draft, the Chicago Bears are the frontrunners to select Caleb Williams with their No. 1 pick. The excitement is palpable, especially after Williams’ first (and only) Top 30 visit with the Bears last week, where they dined for the second time at Sophia Steak in Lake Forest. The draft, set to kick off on April 25, will likely confirm the Caleb-Bears speculation in the first few minutes, adding to the anticipation.
