This is a significant milestone for Hunter, considering he missed a significant amount of time in the 2023 season due to injury. However, it’s also equally significant for Wester, who was determined to make a name in college football after being snubbed from ESPN’s Top 10 WRs list.

LaJohntay Wеstеr’s hard work paid off

Committing to CU through the winter transfer portal, the former Florida Atlantic star receiver and punt returner was particularly disappointed when he didn’t find his name on the ESPN list, but spotted teammate Hunter in the ninth position. Taking to his Instagram Story, Wester shared the list with a cryptic message about being overlooked: “We gonna see. Ong.” The post immediately caught the attention of fans and analysts, sparking speculation about Wester’s feelings regarding the snub.

This disappointment was understandable given his impressive last season stats: second nationally in catches (108), 14th in receiving yards (1,168), and eight touchdowns. He set new FAU single-season records for receptions and receiving yards and ranked third in the American Athletic Conference in all-purpose yards with 1,520. He earned first-team all-conference honors as a receiver and return specialist and was named the AAC special teams player of the year.

Therefore, coming across Wester’s cryptic message, the Buff Nation knew he would work hard to prove himself. Now, Wester’s receiving game has achieved significant recognition, placing him even higher than Hunter on the list.
