The Colorado Buffaloes are set to turn the waves against them as their upcoming season looks to be adorned by the Midas’ touch. They have an entirely new redefined squad, which looks to be very promising as compared to last season. And with more and more monumental achievements, the CU fans seem ready for the action as well.
Deion Sanders and his influence stretch far and wide in the college football world and it was no surprise when the Buffaloes announced that they sold out all of their season tickets 3 months before their first game. Additionally, they will begin their 2024 season by taking on their rivals, the Nebraska Huskers, in a match that is breaking a 29-year-old streak by being telecast on NBC.

Additionally, this good news comes just days after the announcement that the first game between Colorado and Nebraska on 7th September will air in prime time with a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on NBC in Week 2. What makes this news more exciting is the fact that Colorado has not played a game on NBC since the 1995 Fiesta Bowl, making it the eighth game in CU history on a national broadcast.
Needless to say, everyone eagerly awaits their grand comeback in an exciting season ahead. Moreover, the game against the Huskers is set to be enveloped in drama after the heated tensions that occurred last year, and the HC for Nebraska couldn’t be more excited to get his revenge.
Matt Rhule and his enthusiasm to get back at Coach Prime and Co.
Last season, Rhule made a few comments that were directed towards Deion and the team. While he did not name any entities, it didn’t take a detective to realize he was talking about the program at Boulder. He remarked on the hype about the transfer portal in Colorado when he said, “I hear other schools [say] they can’t wait for today, the transfer portal, they can’t wait to go out. I’m not thinking about anybody else but this team out here. [This] program is built on work; it’s not built on hype.”

Shedeur Sanders made it clear that todays performance was personal due to Matt Rhule’s comments over the offseason
“The coach said a lot of things about my Pops, about the program…but now he wanna act nice. I don’t respect that.”

To which Shedeur fired back after the victory, as he usually does, and said, “The coach said a lot of things about my pops and about the program, but now he wants to act nice. I don’t respect that because you hated on another man. It was just, all respect was gone for them and their program. I like playing against their defensive coordinator [Tony White], but the respect level ain’t there because [Rhule] disrespected us first.”

A year has passed since the heated back-and-forth, and now Rhule is expressing his excitement over meeting their rivals once again, saying, “I think this is great for our fans, it’s great for the game. The Nebraska-Colorado rivalry over the years, what it means. Obviously, they beat us last year. And then for our guys, early in the season, have a chance to go out there on national TV and show the country the work that we’ve done and the team that we have. I’m excited. It should be an amazing, amazing game.”
It is evident that the game will try to fill out the wounds from last year as a good rivalry like this in college football never seems to end in just a span of 365 days.
