Now that the Colorado Buffaloes have stepped into the spring season, there have been changes within the players’ roster too. However, instead of new blooms, Deion Sanders’ program lost at least 14 players in this portal window and Cormani McClain’s departure has hit the coach hard. He has been affected so much so that its impact could be felt in the recent practice of the Buffs.

Deion Sanders went ahead with a coach’s call and as the players conglomerated keeping aside their practice, Coach Prime sought assurance with one question as captured by “Well Off Media”. He had issued another blatant warning a few days back too.

In the 2023 recruiting class, Sanders held high hopes from McClain as he was the five-star recruit and the nation’s top defender. His arrival too was a stunning signing day decision as he flipped from Miami which raised Coach Prime’s expectations of him. But on April 17, McClain decided to make his way out becoming the tenth Colorado player to enter the transfer portal. Sanders had been taken aback by this step and ensured to get clarity from the remaining players. As the Buffs roster hit the field to train themselves ahead of the Black and Gold Day, Coach Prime threw at them a crucial question, “I’m let ask you one last time if anybody else wants to tap out I say that every day and what happens somebody tap. Is there anybody else that want to tap out?”

However, instead of brooding on the loss, Sanders shifted the focus to the crucial times that lie ahead with his patent touch of motivation, “Let’s go at each other hard let’s go each other hard right. Practice doesn’t make purpose”. Earlier too, Coach Prime has been spotted in a ‘break or make’ mood.

Deion Sanders’ blatant warning

Deion Sanders raised a coach’s call amidst the Buffs training practice. The words of motivation came with a blatant warning when Coach Prime said, “You know what the day is? PORTAL DAY. It’s PORTAL DAY. If anybody want to jump, jump. If anybody want to ride, ride. What y’all want to do? What y’all want to do?” This was an attempt from Sanders’ end to unite the players as they shouted together answering, “Ride”

Instead of letting the mass exodus affect him, the Buffs HC downplayed the notion that the loss of 14 players will have an impact on the program. In April, in an attempt to boost up the morale of the roster, Sanders came up with the vocal tonic for which he is known and said, “We’re good. I trust the recruiting team. I trust our coaches, and please have some faith in me. We good. We all right. We all right.”

Even though somewhere in his heart it ached for McClain, Deion Sanders ensured to not continue with any negativity and wished him all the best for his new endeavor. With this, Coach Prime channeled all his energy and focus to reenergize the squad ahead of April 27.
