Deion Sanders might be succumbing to a fate that some of the best college football head coaches had to deal with. After all, it all comes with the fame. The barrage from the players he once proudly called a part of his team, including Cormani McClain is now dragging his name through the mud. The litany that several of Sanders’ former players have stood up to bluntly issue against Sanders is raising serious questions about his integrity as a head coach.

And the grand exposé of Deion Sanders is nowhere near stopping. Willie Gaines, a former Cocoa Tiger, is on the move again, this time in Colorado. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound wide receiver ended up at Boulder after his stint at Cocoa, Fla., Toledo, Dodge City Community College, and Jackson State. During his only season at CU, Gaines recorded 25 offensive snaps over five games, catching two balls for 12 yards. Despite their time together at both Jackson State and Colorado, Gaines has made a bold confession against Deion Sanders after entering the transfer portal, following the suit set forth by Cormani McClain and Xavier Smith.

“I started to think to myself… was I part of something great, or was it something that would later contribute to my downfall? The only thing I knew for sure is that my path should be focused on learning from my mistakes and humbling myself,” Gaines started, defining his confusion.

However, it was in the very next sentence that he started throwing jibes seemingly aimed at Deion Sanders. “Football is not a sport that can be manipulated. Things have to happen naturally, no matter how green the grass looks on the other side. Through my experiences, there was still a positive light to see. Yes, my choices had consequences but it was the start of movement,” Wiles wrote on his social media, standing strong against social media. Something that happened thanks to Cormani McClain’s beef with Sanders.

The beef between Cormani McClain and Deion Sanders

The whole saga of former CU players calling out Deion Sanders started with a not-so-subtle dig at Prime from none other than Cormani McClain. “I just don’t want to play for clicks,” McClain said in his first interview after leaving Colorado through the spring transfer portal, referencing the words of Prime’s arch-rival.

Even his mother, Kaishay, left no stone unturned in supporting his kid in his opposition. “Gotta be somewhere where you’re appreciated and not just tolerated!!! God take the lead, we right behind ya,” she had tweeted earlier, taking a direct jibe at Prime for not valuing his boy enough. She also added another tweet later, one which was dripping with sarcasm, saying, “No love lost here.” Do you think McClain and other Buffs’ players’ protest against Prime is justified?
