The drama revolves around the former Michigan Wolverines quarterback, J.J. McCarthy ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. With multiple teams interested in him, it is kind of a better late-than-never situation between the New York Giants and the quarterback.
NFL Analyst and the Good Morning Football show host Peter Schrager and accuracy go hand in hand as far as mock draft predictions are concerned. And Schrager expects the Giants to trade up for McCarthy. Meanwhile, among multiple contenders, the Giants’ path will be made difficult with the New England Patriots’ attempt to pursue the young talent.
As per Schrager’s first 2024 mock draft, it was not surprising to find that Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye will be the first three players. But what strikes the NFL fans, is his prediction that the Giants will be trading up two places to land McCarthy.

There is a strategy behind Brian Daboll’s program. The program will be dealing a trio of picks including No.6 in an attempt to climb two spots and ultimately seize the Arizona Cardinals’ slot. At No.4, they would select McCarthy and the quarterback could potentially create competition for Daniel Jones in New York. In return, the Cardinals could ask for a 2025 first-rounder in exchange for the deal. However, they have arrived too late in the competition, since it has been a while that the Patriots are trying to woo McCarthy.

McCarthy’s chances with New England
The former Wolverines quarterback has paid a visit to New England and has been spotted having dinner with the Patriots officials. On Monday, McCarthy had a meeting with the team facility. Before Jerod Mayo’s squad stands a chance, there is the Chicago Bears who will be drafting Caleb Williams while the Washington Commanders land the No.2 quarterback.

According to the analysis brought up by Schrager, the game of the Patriots will be restricted to either of the two between Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye. However, since McCarthy has boasted impressive statistics during his tenure with Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines, leading the team to earn the national championship title, things seem to be positive between the Patriots and the quarterback.
In case McCarthy lands up with the New England Patriots he will have a greater role to fulfill in terms of carrying forward the legacy of the legendary quarterback, Tom Brady. In the tussle between the Giants and the Patriots, it is now to be seen whether Schrager is able to add yet another feather to his hat of predictions.
