For the 2024 Draft, the Lions are armed with 7 picks including two in the third round. Even though the absence of a 4th round pick may come as a challenge, Holmes is confident about their resources. But having multiple picks in the early rounds will be positive for the draft that is set to unfold in downtown Detroit from April 25-27.
Originally slated to pick 30th overall, the recent loss suffered by the Baltimore Ravens worked in their favor and propelled the Lions to the 29th overall pick. With this, the Lions focused on Michigan prospects who have made waves in college football. The list continues with the notable presence of dynamic quarterback J.J. McCarthy, versatile cornerback Mike Sainristil, and offensive lineman Zak Zinter among others. Under the Holmes-Dan Campbell era, the Lions have already reaped the benefits of defensive end, Adian Hutchinson.

In the past season, the Lions were tantalizingly close to achieving their dream of a Super Bowl appearance. However, things went downhill and they slipped the chance after facing a 34-31 defeat against San Francisco. They fell two wins short and as the disappointment of the loss lingers, Holmes looks forward to changing the narrative by taking advantage of the one-spot climb to secure targets from the Wolverines roster.
