Spring is known for allowing one quarterback to be in the limelight. This time, luck has favored J.J. McCarthy. The Michigan Wolverines quarterback went all up in the draft stocks even though there had been many odds against McCarthy initially.
The same thing was also pointed out on The Carton Show. Meanwhile, Jayden Daniels holds high prospects of being the No. 1 pick; however, his future is uncertain, considering the condition of his right elbow.

In the 2nd Overall Pick Odds, four names emerge: Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy, and Marvin Harrison Jr., per the chronology. Even though Daniels has been the top pick, his elbow injury shifted his stocks to negative. After Maye, McCarthy stands a chance as in The Carton Show, a deep analysis of the quarterback takes place, “One of those quarterbacks that looks to be picked early is J.J. McCarthy all of a sudden. Look at these odds, his odds have skyrocketed.”
Currently, McCarthy stands at plus 275, which shows how this year has been a rollercoaster ride for the quarterback. He went from +2500 to +800 before dropping to +350 and now hitting the 200 mark. The real reason behind McCarthy’s stocks shooting up is that as a junior, the quarterback has improved his completion rate, yards per attempt, and interceptions. His completion percentage has shot up from 64.6% to 72.3% between 2022 and 2023, and so have his passing yards from 2,719 to 2,991. Meanwhile, the prospect table has been subjected to a major change with Daniels’ injury.

Even though Daniels’s position as the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft seemed to be a positive aspect in the beginning, his elbow does not seem to indicate so. Recently, a picture of the LSU quarterback went viral after his Pro Day. The close-up shot has been the main reason for concern, as it shows a knob-like protrusion at the end of the elbow.
As Dr. Jesse Morse later tweeted, “Jayden Daniels appears to be dealing with olecranon bursitis of his right throwing elbow.” In an attempt to further simplify the medical condition, the doctor said, “Banging your elbow against a hard surface often results in inflammation of the bursa, causing the body to fill it with fluid.”

However, there has been no official confirmation from the player or the league whether Daniels will take a break. Meanwhile, J.J. McCarthy is all set to implement the experience he has garnered over the past two seasons as the NFL teams evaluate his tools for the next level.
