After much speculation about where former Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy, a key player who led his team to the National Championship in 2024, would land in the NFL, he now has a new home with the Minnesota Vikings. The team traded up with the New York Jets to select McCarthy as the No. 10 pick in the draft.

After losing Kirk Cousins in free agency, GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is set to use their new QB as a valuable weapon for the Vikings for both the short and long term. As J.J. McCarthy gets ready to settle down with his new team, his fiancee, Katya Kuropas, is there every step of the way, providing unwavering support and love during this new chapter of his life.

Despite not being the most touted QB to enter the draft due to Michigan’s run-heavy offense, J.J. McCarthy’s talent and potential are undeniable. After being drafted by the Vikings, he expressed his eagerness to contribute, saying, “My mindset is just to take one day at a time and really focus on just getting to know everyone’s names, getting to know the playbook inside and out, and to focus on being the best version of myself every single day.” This eagerness and dedication bode well for his future with the Vikings.

As Adofo-Mensah said, “We’re over big here on quarterbacks and how differently they can impact the game… From a talent standpoint, he was as talented as anybody in the draft.” Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell also lauded the signal-caller’s ability to throw and extend plays. McCarthy ranked No. 94 in FBS and averaged 22.1 passes per game last season. Hopefully, he’ll be able to cement his name as the new face of the Vikings in the coming season.
