The rumors are still swirling with the 2024 NFL Draft getting closer. Speculations are high, especially regarding the Chicago Bears’ potential first pick in 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams and the fate of Justin Fields in Chicago. The Bears’ attempt to trade Fields is hitting a rocky patch as they are finding a suitable trade option for him.
Amidst the Bears’ dilemma, Colorado Buffs HC Deion Sanders revealed his concerns for Caleb Williams if the Bears draft him on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio with Chris Russo. As for Fields, his previous hope in Philadelphia has gone down in ashes. The whole situation in Chicago seems like a mess for the Bears and Fields right now.

Sanders stated concerns about the Bears’ interest in selecting Caleb Williams as their No. 1 pick as the college graduate is coming from a warmer Los Angeles area. He said, “A kid that’s coming from California for the last couple years, right? And went to Oklahoma. That’s not terribly cold. Chicago’s cold, man. You gotta think about that kind of stuff when you’re taking a young man.” With the Bears holding the No. 1 pick and Williams rated as the top 1 overall prospect in the 2024 draft class, the conclusion seems quite obvious.
But if Williams comes to Windy City, the Bears’ current QB Justin Fields’ dilemma will increase tenfold. With the recent report about the Philadelphia Eagles talking with Fields and ultimately landing former Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett instead, Fields’ future could be at stake.

The Eagles have signed Pickett after not being able to come to terms with the Bears about landing Fields. As ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported, “The Eagles, from what I understand talking to sources around the league, were one of the teams that had talked to the Bears about Justin Fields, but obviously could not get to the point where they agreed on a price, so they traded for Pickett.”
NFL teams are already filling their QB roles with the Atlanta Falcons signing Kirk Cousins and the Steelers signing Russell Wilson. According to Dan Graziano, Field’s market prospect is “extremely lukewarm.” Some of the possible landing places for Fields could be Pittsburgh who might need a backup QB after Pickett’s departure or the Minnesota Vikings who recently brought in Sam Darnold.
