Is Travis Hunter the next big thing, or will his imperfections hold him back in the NFL?

Which position will Travis Hunter play when he joins the NFL in 2025? There’s still a whole season ahead of him for this dilemma to progress. But NFL scouts are at their wit’s end on where to place Hunter for their early draft rankings.

Nearly three months ago, NFL star WR Tyreek Hill imparted a piece of lucrative advice for the Colorado Buffaloes two-star. So the question remains whether the cover star of EA Sports CFB 25 will play offense or defense in the NFL. But in the words of scouts, he might have the upper hand if he has the ball in his hands.

As per a new report by NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller on July 28, Travis Hunter has a bright prospect to shine as a wide receiver in the NFL. According to him, he joins Missouri Luther Burden III and Arizona Tetairoa McMillan as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2025 draft class. As per what one AFC GM said, “I think he’s a more natural receiver. To excel at corner, he’d really have to dedicate himself to the technique and craft. At receiver, his athleticism shines.”

Hunter won the 2023 Paul Hornung Award after playing both ways in Colorado. In nine games, he recorded 293 snaps as a cornerback and 412 yards as a wide receiver. The above ranking is based on Miller’s assessment of the players from last season’s tapes. However, the result is subject to change with how the 2024 season will play out. But let’s revisit the NFL Cheetah’s million-dollar advice on Hunter’s position.

Tyreek Hill reveals WR is a more lucrative position

Back in April, Tyreek Hill appeared in an episode on the MILLION DOLLAZ WORTH OF GAME to share his opinion on Travis Hunter’s position in the NFL. After speculating that both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter would be “going Top 5,” he added, “And I think Travis Hunter should play receiver.” Hill also explained why playing receiver is the better option.

As per Hill’s observation, Hunter’s “ability to just catch the ball” and “run routes” puts him in a great position to thrive as a receiver. He also added, “And receivers like you get paid a whole lot more money man.” Hunter will still have this year to refine his offensive and defensive skills. Only time will tell how the future will pan out for Hunter in the NFL. What position do you think he’ll best fit for? Let us know what you think.
