The most talked about Michigan star this Combine season wants to be his own legend among a hall of heroes. JJ McCarthy, the quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines, declared for the NFL Draft this year and is facing comparisons against the big names of the sport but chooses to pick his own uniqueness rather than imitate someone else’s glory.

JJ McCarthy was the pride and shine of the Wolverines last season. He was a pivotal force behind their 15-0 undefeated winning streak and eventually the national championship. Though he hasn’t made it to the top 3 draft prospects, he has a bright future in the NFL with the sort of skills he brings to the table. But as far as being one of the GOATs goes, McCarthy will pave his own way rather than following in the footsteps of someone like Brady.

In the latest NFL Combine interview, the famed quarterback of the Michigan Wolverines took to the stand to take on a storm of questions laid on him by the media. While effortlessly discussing his draft prospects with the Bears and his Pro Day performance, he bluntly answered questions about being compared to NFL legends like Tom Brady and Joe Burrow.

He responded to comparisons of him to Brady by saying, ” I’m not a big comparison guy, I’m just somebody, you know, obviously I take bits and pieces from other players’ games but I try to make it my own and be the best version of myself cuz there’s only one JJ McCarthy, just like there’s only one Tom Brady, only one Joe Burrow, all those guys.”, swiftly shutting the, down. Thus, with the Draft only 55 days away, the fans will have to wait and see what kind of legacy McCarthy makes during his career in the NFL. Though the quarterback seems to want to be different than Brady, Jim Harbaugh claims that he just might be better than Tom Brady.

Harbaugh said, “Tom Brady is the greatest football player of all time. He’s lapped the field. He’s lapped the field a full lap. J.J. has a long way to go to get to that. But in terms of who I think is the best college quarterback in the 144-year history of Michigan football, I’m nominating J.J. McCarthy. I’m not the maker of that list, but that’s my opinion. I’ve said it before, but right here, this is the greatest quarterback in University of Michigan history.” Thus, Harbaugh just might be right about McCarthy’s success in the world of college football, but when it comes to the NFL, it is going to be a different ball game for the youngster as he builds his legacy.
