It’s a sensitive decision weighing on the shoulders of the Chicago Bears. The dilemma remains – should they retain their starting QB Justin Fields or trade him to draft college football star Caleb Williams with their No. 1 pick? Almost everyone has their own say and opinion, including Shedeur Sanders.

While Justin Fields is yet to lead the Bears to the postseason, he played 40 career games with them with 40 TDs against 30 interceptions since his joining in 2021. And now the Bears are in a fix because they have the No. 1 pick and there are strong chances that they’ll draft Caleb Williams. So where does Justin Fields stand?

In a recent YouTube upload by Yahoo! Sports, Shedeur Sanders drops his views on the 24-year-old Bears QB amid Caleb Williams potentially taking his place. The Buffs QB stated, “I’ve been watching Justin Fields my whole life so I’ll always be a fan of Justin Fields.” The recently turned 22-year-old further added, “He just needs a second chance man. That’s it. And I’m telling you he’s going to do it.

Shedeur Sanders is also aware that the NFL is very different from college football where Caleb Williams is fresh out of. Even though a player is talented, a lot of factors go into shaping their credibility and success. He said, “You got to have a right team… the right system, or right anything… Give them help and then everything will be fine.” While opinions are divided, who do you suppose the Bears are in favor of?

Justin Fields vs. Caleb Williams – Who will be the Bears QB?

In 2021, the Bears drafted Justin Fields in the first round where he played 12 games and recorded 1,870 passing yards and seven TDs. Since his drafting to the present, he has recorded 5,482 passing yards and 36 passing touchdowns and 1,904 rushing yards and 11 TDs. His retention could be beneficial for the team because he’s already in his fourth year and has contract extension eligibility.

As for Caleb Williams, he’s entering the 2024 NFL Draft as a top-tier rookie who’s the “favorite for the No. 1 pick.” He finished last season with 3,633 passing yards and 30 touchdowns and 136 rushing yards and 11 TDs. While he may be an exceptional college football player, he may need time to adapt to the NFL. This surely is a mind-shattering dilemma that the Bears will ultimately have to meet.
