Sometimes in life, you have to resort to drastic measures to get what you want and that’s exactly what LA Rams QB Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly Stafford did. While the couple is happily married with four kids now, the past was a lot more complicated. Mrs. Stafford’s revelation has set the internet in a frenzy of interest.

According to what Kelly Stafford revealed on the Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe podcast on June 11, her relationship with her QB husband started on a laughable note during their college days in Georgia when he was the starting QB and she was a cheerleader. With Stafford not ready to commit to a serious relationship, she confessed, “I hated him. I loved him. I dated the backup to piss him off.” This last bit of news blew the internet and even landed on controversial King Antonio Brown’s social media. And what’s even more surprising is that Lane Kiffin actually joined AB’s conversation.

After Kelly Stafford’s raw confession, Antonio Brown took to his X account to post a picture of the former Georgia backup Joey Cox being played. In the caption, he wrote, “Cracker of the Day #CTESPN.” This prompted Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin to drop his views on the scenario as he tagged Brown and captioned, “Maybe @AB84.”

Perhaps, both Brown and Kiffin are justified in their opinions on this one. Clearly, Joey Cox catalyzed a prosperous relationship between Matthew and Kelly Stafford. As the wife pointed out, when she started seeing Cox, he began to feel overprotective and more caring, which was what she intended for in the first place. But while the story didn’t go in favor of Cox, it gave birth to a beautiful forever after for the couple.

After the backup QB incident, Kelly Stafford was blessed with four kids – Chandler, 6, Sawyer, 6, Hunter, 5, and Tyler, 3 with Matthew Stafford as a result of her efforts. But as she reminisced about the start of their relationship, she expressed how she never saw this coming as she said, “I think if you ask anyone who knew us at Georgia if they thought we would have ended up together, four kids, they would have laughed their a**es off. I think I would have laughed my a** off at that.”

For the Stafford couple, things turned out for the better as Kelly Stafford now has no complaints about her husband, just compliments. In a throwback interview with E! News in 2022, she said of the Rams’ QB, “He is the softest, most patient man.” She went on to express how her father always emphasized the father-daughter relationship because a father can boost a daughter’s confidence and added, “I am so grateful that I ended up with Matthew because he sets such an incredible example as to the partner they should want to be with.” Do you think the mastermind she pulled back in her college days to entice Matthew Stafford is clever?
