Caleb Williams might be the guy for comebacks this pre-draft season. First, it was the powerful jab against McElroy’s ‘adversity’ comment, followed by a not-so-subtle dig at all the doubts surrounding the Bears being the perfect team for him. Chicago Football Connection believes Caleb Williams would have been saved if he had tried harder and might have even gotten into some elite franchise.
Caleb Williams didn’t respond directly to it. He took the higher road of subtle digs. “I want to play in one place for 20 years and achieve the same as a guy with the number 12 (Brady),” Williams confessed in Pivot Podcast. Since he is getting ready to be drafted by the Bears, it will be the organization Williams is aiming to give his all for 20 years, turning the narrative and, one day, beating the records of the GOAT. Saying it won’t be easy would be a mere understatement. Since looking at the requirements to surpass the numbers, Williams would have to pour his blood, sweat, and tears into it.
What would Caleb Williams need to surpass Tom Brady?

The list is long, and the numbers are staggering. But Williams is pretty much determined to get it all. After all, we’re talking about seven Super Bowl rings. Williams would need to forge himself for years to get there. It took Brady a whole year to get to his first Super Bowl win as a starter since he was drafted. But it took him playing through the worst of injuries (the 2008 season being an exception) to reach the number 7. Hence, the first thing on the checklist becomes sheer determination and a relentless mindset.

In his career, Brady scored 89,214 passing yards. If Williams wants even to reach there, let alone surpass it, he would have to score 4,461 per season. The same goes for Brady’s 649 passing TDs. To match this, Williams would need 32.5 passing TDs per season and 12.6 career wins per season to match Brady’s 251.

The numbers are not the only challenge for Williams. Another formidable contender for the GOAT title is Patrick Mahomes. Compared to Brady’s numbers, Mahomes has scored 28,424 passing yards, 219 passing TDs, and 89 career wins. He also has three Super Bowl rings to his name. Both Brady and Mahomes have set the bar high. So, who do you think has the potential to claim the GOAT title? Patrick Mahomes or Caleb Williams?
