From being considered one of the greatest NFL head coaches of all time to having to exit the team he’s coached for 24 seasons, Bill Belichick has become a hot topic of discussion. But is the former NFL legend Tom Brady a contributing factor to his degradation? 

Robert Griffin III and Coach Prime both have their takes on the 71-year-old Nashville native, who is currently in the market seeking a new HC position. The Colorado Buffaloes HC isn’t beating around the bush and gets straight to where he thinks the problem with Bill Belichick is. And it still has something to do with quarterbacks.

The world never stops speculating, and this time, Bill Belichick’s record with and without Tom Brady is discussed in a recent YouTube episode on RG3 and The Ones. In the video, former NFL QB Robert Griffin III pointed out the former Patriots HC’s coaching style. He said, “I don’t believe the Patriot way is still the way to get it done in today’s NFL.” To this, Deion Sanders replied, “You’re right. But I’m pretty sure he’s keen enough and smart enough to make certain adjustments.

According to Coach Prime, the problem with Bill Belichick facing a hard time after the NFL GOAT left the Patriots is because of quarterback inconsistency. He takes the examples of the current top NFL teams, like the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers who have consistent quarterbacks. He further said, “Bill Belichick didn’t have no consistency at quarterback… When you’re trying to build, you better go find your RG3. You better go find you a dog that can lead and understand.

Bill Belichick and quarterback issues

Bill Belichick indeed suffered quarterback-wise when Tom Brady left the Patriots in 2019. But he holds a big portion of the blame when it comes to his unsuccessful tenure at New England. He failed to develop their high-ranked QB, Mac Jones, due to his indifferent demeanor towards the QB as well as his incapability to create an offensive environment necessary for a QB’s development.

Ever since Tom Brady left, Bill Belichick has raised eyebrows with his string of decisions, right from the 2021 NFL Draft to the downfall and benching of Mac Jones. But hopefully, it’s a lesson that’s been noted as he’s out there interviewing for a new coaching role. As Coach Prime said, fans of the 8-time SB championship coach hope he’ll be “keen enough and smart enough to make certain adjustments.
