The Los Angeles Chargers are one of the teams providing the hottest sports news as the hunt for a new HC continues. And with each passing day, the possibility of Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh joining the NFL, more notably, the Chargers becomes stronger. After the recent interview with former Stanford HC David Shaw, the revelation of the new Chargers HC could happen very soon. 

David Shaw took the reins from Jim Harbaugh when he left Stanford to coach the San Francisco 49ers and has since remained the program’s winningest coach with a record of 96-54 in 12 seasons. The Chargers have interviewed 10 candidates for their head coach position. Harbaugh interviewed on Monday and it looks like everything has gone to plan as his contract offer keeps rising. 

The Chargers signing Jim Harbaugh ‘sounds inevitable’

With David Shaw’s interview on Thursday, the Chargers are the first NFL team to fulfill the Rooney Rule which calls for the interview of two minority candidates outside the organization. A Twitter update posed the surety of Jim Harbaugh being declared as the next Chargers HC which might break out in a few hours or over the next week. The post reads, “Sounds like it’s inevitable at this point.

Now that the Chargers have complied with the Rooney Rule, they can hire their next HC anytime they want. This potentially moves Jim Harbaugh closer to the $90 million contract with the Chargers. The rise in the contract offer came after Harbaugh interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday. A former Chargers player from 1999 to 2000, there is a very high chance that LA will hire the 60-year-old as a replacement for fired Brandon Staley.

Jim Harbaugh’s interest to join the NFL is clear

The LA Chargers have given Jim Harbaugh an offer that he can’t afford to miss. They’re throwing cash on him by proposing an $18 million annual check over the next five years. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said of the Chargers and Harbaugh’s interest, “It is real, it’s legitimate. I believe Harbaugh has a mutual interest as well. The chance with that quarterback, Justin Herbert, to make something happen.

Jim Harbaugh’s recent connection with Denver Broncos Sean Payton’s representative Don Yee also put light on his interest in returning to the NFL. Ever since his stint with the 49ers leading to an SB appearance, Harbaugh has been lowkey seeking NFL coaching jobs as is seen in his contact with teams like the Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and Carolina Panthers over the last two years. At this point, the breaking news shouldn’t come as a surprise if Harbaugh is named the new Chargers HC.
